    Bank: Lloyds TSB
    Amount Reclaimed: £743
    Amount they paid: £743
The story: I wrote to them with amount plus interest so that I had something to haggle with. They wrote back saying chjarges are fair etc, no money back. I then sent the letter threatening legal action, no response. I attempted to raise a claim on the recommended couty court website as advertised on here but it didn't let me fill in the required information properly- not sure what I did wrong there. About 2 months (at least) after sending the threatening letter got a letter from them saying the full amount was in my bank account. I was very happy thanks for helping me out with that.

DO NOT GIVE UP! My son was taking Barclays to The County Court and they let it go to the 'wire'. Claim was for £890. At the 11th hour they offered £944.
This was a week AFTER their victory in another County Court. Best of luck.
Many thanks for all the help on the forum and the templates. Alvin

    Bank - Natwest

Amount Claimed : £1927.49 plus interest

    Amount Received : £1550

Decided to take on Natwest after a friend had told me to do it after seeing Martin on GMTV. I nearly didn't bother!!!
Sent first letter with cheque 5th March. Sent second letter on 27th March with a detailed breakdown of charges in a table like this :

    Date Details Amount Charged

    08/09/03 Referral Charge £25.00
    23/09/03 Unpaid Item d/d admiral insurance £30.00
    29/09/03 Unpaid Item d/d wagon finance £30.00

Recieved no response within 14 days so sent off the "threaten court" letter. (I sent all my letters recorded delivery) Still received nothing so went on Moneyclaim site and filed claim on 11th May.
Received confirmation from Moneyclaim through the post saying Natwest had until 30th May to respond. Then on tuesday 22nd May I received a pack from Natwest enclosing a letter with an offer for £1550 paid straight into my account. I know it's not the full amount but it clears me of my overdraft and I will strive to never get charged again.
My thanks go to Martin the Money Geniustm because without him this money would never have dropped from the sky for me. It has helped my finances so much! THANKYOU:money: :T
I'd also like to say to anyone still claiming : stay positive. Remember it's the Banks on trial, not us! Just follow the advice on this site and you won't fail.

Well i'll be... just checked my bank and Halifax have paid in just short of 2,000.... still 3,000 short so the phone will be going bright and early tomorrow. All this 2 days after they chose to defend my claim....

Never the less this is pretty cool and I never the less very happy.

Ps. 37 inch LCD tv for sale as I'm off to Comet to get a bigger one :-)
  • Just to let people know that it does work, just received £1100 back from Natwest, had to threaten them with court but they paid straight out and they haven't closed my account, absolutely chuffed to bits
  • Lloyds paid out £909.00 today - went all the way to a summons but paid out 10 days before court date!!!! Whoo Hoo!!!
  • I claimed £1262 received £1100 from Natwest, took a while but after threatening them with court they paid out "as a goodwill gesture" chuffed to bits, and they haven't closed my account which is fab, I will just have to make sure now I don't go over my overdraft limit again.
  • I was disheartened when I heard the story last week about the gentleman losing his claim about unfair bank charges.
However after watching Martin on GMTV I decided to proceed.
Charges from First Direct amounted to nearly £900.
Have just had an offer of £758 which I am accepting. Took a total of two weeks from requesting the statements to receiving the offer.
    Please don't give up.:D :T :rotfl:  :j
  • Martin!.............you quite simply are a moneysaver, lifesaver!

    Natwest Bank :o

claim: £490 of unfair bank charges!
rec'd: £377 purely as a good will gesture! ha ha

    Lloyds/Tsb

claim: £1250 of unfair bank charges!
rec'd: £750 again as a good will gesture! lol

Natwest was a simple process and very nice about it. The Lloyds/Tsb were very slow and had first letter refusing. Threatened with court proceedings and 14 days to respond. They did on the 14th day...........with a goodwill gesture of £750 in the bank within 10 days!!!!!

    Rock 'n' Roll!! :T
