I reclaimed £2272, from natwest. I sent three letter saying i would take them to court if they didnt pay up (letters from martins website)
I didnt hear anything from them, so i decided to phone oneday. A few phone calls later (after being told to call different depatments) I was told I was going to get all money back. However it could take upto 56 days!!!!!

Two weeks later I recieved a letter that had to be signed, saying that i was getting all £2272 back, i sent it back the same day. (monday)
I checked my account on the friday and the whole amount was in their all £2272. I am so glad i did it..

Natwest were really bad at keeping me informed. I had to chase them!!!
I really didnt want to go down the court route, but i would have if i had too.
Thanks to martin, my overdraft has been paid off and i have a little to spend on me!!!!

    Thanks

Hi, after filing 6 claims at MCOL, I can finally say, today, six successes!
    I claimed vs
    Capital One credit card,
    MBNA Abbey credit card,
    Morgan Stanley credit card,
    GE Capital store card,
    Bank of Scotland preference account,
    Tesco (RBS) visa card

all have either paid up, or will be paying up in the next week - total reclaimed, including 8% interest and court fees - £3,342.51.

This is in addition to the £415 already repaid, without court, by First Direct and the £30 repaid by GE Money re my Monsoon account. I have another claim at MCOL re BOS for over £10k, which has only just been issued and SARs out on 5 other accounts. 3 more to go after that!

I am so very grateful to Martin, Edinburghlass and everyone on this site for your help. I also used the CAG site for help. This money will be used to pay bills and reduce my debts. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

so i did and 2 weeks later got a letter saying they do not belive this is unfair but will offer me a good will gesture of £500. i am accepting this offer as i really need the money right now
and i think 500 is fair. so thanks again.

and to everyone elses posts who made me realise i could get something done about unlawful bank charges.

    Cheers :)
  • Bank: Natwest
    Amount Reclaimed: £2450

    Amount they paid: £2111
The story: Sent first letter on 14th March 07, sent second letter 4 weeks later threatening court in 14 days. 14 days was up and i waited another 7 before i registered with moneyclaim.com. i intended to finish my claim and submit the very next day before I arrived home from work to find a letter from natwest. the first a4 page spent forever explaining why they have done nothing wrong so i started to think about the online claim, i turned the page to find ... "However, without admitting to any fault or liability we would like to offer you £2111.00 as a good will gesture" after 7 days contemplating I sent the letter to accept. they took another 7 days to credit my account on friday 18th May 07. I asked for £2100 plus £350 interest but i wasnt really bothered about the interest. I could have took it further but I didnt want the anxiety and am happy with what ive got. Result! thankyou wholly and solely to Martin as every advice I followed was his. without this website I would be £2111 poorer.:T
  • Bank: First Direct
    Amount Claimed: £795
    Amount Received: £675

From just one letter sent (the example given by Martin)!

Received the letter from FD about three days after I sent mine to them!

Gratefully received as a mature student, but I feel bad about going overdrawn, so will now try my hardest not to go over my limit...

    Thanks Martin!!!

    AMOUNT CLAIMED £1868

    AMOUNT THEY PAID £ 1700 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    :j :j :T

    THE STORY........

I first requested my statements at the beginning of March , i received them quickly and even had my cheque returned .

I sent the next letter requesting the amount of £ 1868 in charges .
I received the standard letter informing me that they have 8 weeks to investigate my complaint . I sent the next letter asking for response in 14 days before i start the money claim online proceedure. I quickly received a letter telling me the same as the last one but it gave me a date for the beginning of May which they would respond to me by.

    I decided to wait .

When the date arrived i received another letter telling me that they beleived that the charges were correctly applied to my account and gave me a leaflet and stating that if they did not here from me within 8 weeks they would assume that i am happy with the decision . I phoned them straight away and told them i was not happy with the response and the guy i spoke to told me that the file would be passed on to a manager who would look at my case again .

I received a letter a week later offering me £ 966 as a "good will gesture " that would be in full and final settlement of the claim . Again i telephoned them to say i was not happy with the response . A lady phoned me back within a couple of hours and asked what amount i would be happy with , i said the full amount and she said would you comprimise at £ 1700 to which i said yes thankyou very much !!!!!!!

The money went into my account within 3 days !!!!!!!!

Every jug of sangria i will have on my holidays will now taste much sweeter !!!!

Thanks to everyone who offered advice and to this fab website !!!!!!!!!!!

Hi all just thought I would let you know that after a short convo today about my claim we came to an agreement to settle.
Posty brought a letter from the Halifax with an offer of £1699.50.. of which was dismissed and after a couple of calls to the number at the top of the letter I accepted £3400.00 . I was claiming £4300... I was told that was an gesture of goodwill ...for the 1st offer . And I was also informed that I can go after the interest through the onbudsman .. so just thought Id include this on success thread ...
regards and many thanks to all who have given me hints and encouragement ,Im off work at the moment (since september) and every little helps ...Great site Martin .. and helpers .:T
