    Amount claimed: £877
Amount refunded: £877 (inc £80 court fee)

I claimed for my cousin. Sent them the first 2 letters from this site and they offered just over £200. They wrote in their letter that they will reduce all the the £20 penalties they charged him to £12 resulting to an amount of just over £200. Went to MoneyClaim and they Capital One credited his credit card with £877 just 1 day before the 28days the court allowed them.

Thats 2 out of 2 claims that I have managed to get the money back and I'm in the middle of a 3rd claim with Halifax.

Thanks for all the help and info.

    Bank:Halifax
    Amount Reclaimed: £6405
    Amount Piad: £6405

Wrote 1st letter on 29th March asking for refund. Recieved standard "we are declining your complaint letter" on the 3rd May. Phoned them to say I wasn't happy with the response and would be going to the FOS. Recieved offer of £4398 a week later, declined this, then offered full amount on 15th May, £4398 paid into account on that same day and remainder paid in on the 20th may (Sunday).

    Thanks Martin!:money:
  • I have just got a settlement from Barclays. I got as far as the court date being set for 30th May. I sent the court bundles on 11th May and received a letter on 15th offering to settle the full amount. £580 plus £80 court fees. I faxed the signed letter through to them and got the money transferred into my bank account with minutes.

Many thanks to everyone for their help.

Wow! One Day I get a reply from the court telling me Notice of Acknowledgment of Service has been filed and the Co-op intend to defend all of my claim. Then the next morning I find my bank account better off £1892.76! Not the full amount, but who’s counting. Nearly 2k I’d written off. And getting one over on the banks… Priceless!!:j
Now all I have to work out is how to stop the small claims process.
Thanks to everyone one in the forums that helped me and a big THANK YOU to Martin Lewis and his gang, without the letter templates, step-by-step walkthroughs and hosting the forum I’d never have started this

    Bank: Halifax
    Amount Reclaimed: £1786.09 + £120 court fee = total £1906.09
    Amount Paid: £1906.09

I requested statements on 22 Feb 07 and then followed the procedure using all the template letters. On 7th April I recieved a letter telling me they would need 40 days to fully investigate my complaint, I wrote back saying I had clearly given them 14 days and if I didn't get a satisfactory response I would issue a court claim. 14 days passed so the court claim was issued. Halifax acknowledged my claim and told the court they intended to defend it all. That gave them 28 days to prepare a defence, however today, 22 days later I have recieved a full refund into my bank account almost exactly 3 months since the beginning!
The best piece of advice I had throughout the whole thing was to stick to your own timetable and do not be dictated to by the banks!
This really does work so don't give up.

:T Just to say I wrote to the Alliance & Leicester for my MEAF in February and heard nothing. I wrote again at the beginning of May with the same letter and I received a reply a week later saying they were investigating.
On Friday I received a cheque for £287.50 in settlement of the matter!!!!!
I'm sooooooooo pleased. Thank you Martin!!!!!!

  • Bank: NatWest
    Amount claimed: £1,544.
    Amount recieved: £1,544.
Full amount recieved, but only after threatening to take the bank to court. Had no correspondence from the bank until that point. Of course the bank accepts no liability or error on their part, but 'as a gesture of good will' the full amount was refunded. My advice: hang on in there and don't be discouraged at any point.

P.S. Thanks Martin, it's all down to you.
