BANK: NatWest
CLAIMED: £538.92 (including interest)
SETTLEMENT: £464.00
I could not believe my eyes this morning (Sat 19 May 2007) when I opened my post to see a settlement letter from NatWest Bank offering me £464.00.
I had heard nothing from them and after the LloydsTSB court win I thought that I would have to issue my claim in the County Court and keep my fingers crossed.
For everyone else out there here is what happened:-
26 March - sent them a copy of Martin's first standard (with interest) and my own copies of the relevant bank statements - NO REPLY FROM THEM
17 April - sent second letter with the WITHOUT PREJUDICE section in it stating that I would accept £431.00 in settlement (in effect giving NatWest
a 20% discount) - NO REPLY FROM THEM
19 May - letter from NatWest offering full and final settlement (to be paid direct into my bank account) in the sum of £464.00 THATS £31.00 MORE THEN I HAD ASKED FOR!!! :T
In fairness I did NOT stick to Martin's "14 days" suggested time limit for replies or "next step" action. Although I was very tempted, I did not ever telephone them (not quite true, did try to phone them for the 1st. time last week but could not get through - line busy all day). If I had stuck to the time limits then by now I would have issued my court claim. I can only assume
that NatWest might have taken this into consideration when looking at my claim - or perhaps I've just been very lucky?
I have today sent back their letter of accepting the offer (it seems fair and eliminates the need for court action).
So, there still is"life" after the LloydsTSB result and I have had to change my opinion of NatWest Bank. Thanks very much to Martin Lewis - the true money saving expert - for his help to me and please everyone else do continue with your claims (but perhaps do be prepared to compromise if your made an offer?): :j :j :T :j :j

Served my claim from my county court last week, and today got an ominous plain white envelope addressed to me. I looked on the back and recognised the Balloon Street address, and feared the worst, but out fell a cheque for £1437! I'm over the moon!
Now I'm just looking for how to finish up with the claim procedure now they've paid up.0 -
Bank: Royal Bank of Scotland
Amount Reclaimed:£4500.00
Amount they paid:[£4500.00
The story: by simply follow the instructions on this site. I wrote to the bank as suggested and received a letter from the bank containing all the statements I need at no cost to me.
The bank then asked for payment before sending them to me. There must be someone in my branch who agrees with this action or they dropped a clanger.
On 4/04/07 I submitted a claim and on 22/04/07 I entered a undefend
judgement.
Ithought iI had made a mistake as other site user where sending the court doucments to the banks head offices. I had all mine sent to local branch. I need not have worried.
The post on 12/05/07 contained a nice surprise. The bank paid up in full. This bank have specially account for paying bank charges and my cheque was 774 drawn on it. I returned teh encolosed letter acknowledging the reciept of the settlement.
I stiil have account at the bank for now but I will move.
Do not give up the battle
Good luck to all those who are taking the banks on.

In process of reclaiming my fiances and my mums bank charges0 -
I would just like to let you know that both my sons have claimed bank charges from Nat west the amounts were £600 and £704. I did the first letter for them attaching copy of charges. One got a reply saying would be passed to relevant department and the other got no reply at all, so I wrote again (sending copies of charges for a second time) advising that we had received no response and asked for charges plus interest. Within a week they had both had a reply offereing the original amount less interest which they were both happy to accept. They had to sign a letter agreeing to payment and within a week of posting charges had been paid direct into their accounts.
Now can anybody help me my youngest son who got the most back had a poor wage just before getting charges back and the bacnk stopped some dds being paid so again he got hit with £152 does anyone know if he can reclaim them a second time.0 -
