    Bank: First Direct
    Amount claimed: £117.20
    Amount received: £110
Story: Sent first letter claiming for charges plus interest, received offer of charges only after just a few days. The amount isn't as huge as many people's, but £110 for one letter? I'd have to be a lawyer to get that normally!

  • BANK LLoyds TSB
    reclaimed £2244.31
    bank paid £2244.31

Did the 1st 2 letters (templates from this site). They answered each one saying not interested. Went through moneyclaim online. No response from bank, so entered a judgment by default. Still nothing... Left it a week for them to pay and then tried to call bank. (lines busy surprise surprise!!). Faxed them a letter this pm saying if money not in bank by end today would issue a warrant. Checked at 4.30 pm and IT'S IN!!!!!!!!
It only took 8 weeks from sending 1st letter to getting my money!!

Thanks to martin and his website for giving me the confidence to do this.
The husband and i are choked we are that happy and grateful.

stick with it all you reclaimers!!!!
  • Bank: Mint (RBS)
    Amount Reclaimed:£778.80 + court cost
    Amount they paid:£858.80
    The story:
After my second letter i was offered £181 as the difference between the £12 they now charge and the amount I paid out. I declined (very politely!) and went to MCOL.

Two weeks on and no defence - then a letter this morning paying up because 'it is not commercially viable to defend the claim'

Whatever - Im a happy bunny - two successes in two days and over £2000 better off! Only MBNA to go (Ive got a partial cheque for £335 and another £600 due when I do MCOL tonight!)

Thanks again to everyone on this site for giving me the confiedence to do this - and for all the good advice!

  • my first offer from the lovely Mr James ball was just a fraction of what they owed me, so went through process again (step 3) and received letter this morning offering me full amount minus the interest which is fine by me as it's money i thought was long gone and will come in very handy for our summer holiday. so i'm now £733 richer than yesterday.
so my advice to everyone else in same boat is send the 2nd demand and they'll hopefully pay up.
just have to wait on citi, capital one and nationwide, but nationwide haven't even bothered to respond to my first demand so it looks like i might have to go the court way if they don't reply to 2nd demand
fingers crossed to everyone else trying to get their money back and i'll keep you posted

    Claimed: £4,911.44
    Offer: £3,682.00
Time Scale: 20th March - 18th May only one letter sent
    My Story:
Telephoned asking for a list of charges. Charges sent within 4 weeks of phone call and didn't need to prepare them, they had done that for me.
Sent letter asking for money back. They replied by return asking for 28 days. 28 days up today, but telephoned last night and offer made yesterday at 5pm. Details hadn't been put on my file so I didn't know how much at that time. Called them today to see if info had been updated and was told the offer amount. I know from a general call to the bank that they are offering around 75% of claims in general, which is what I've been offered. Going to give them a call on Monday to ask if they would like to up it to 4k, if not i'm going to take the money and run! I'm not going to get greedy and I don't want to wait for the courts as they seem to have a back log. I'm happy enough with the offer and I don't want to be the second person to lose!!:j
  • Bank: Halifax Amount Reclaimed £1374.81
Amount they paid: £1374.81 inc court fees
The story: Requested statements, came in 2 weeks. Letter requesting payback, Received fob off blah blah. Letter giving 14 days before MCOL. this got a response that they have 8 weeks to handle complaint. Went MCOL, acknowledged that they would defend after 6 days.Full amount paid back into A/C 17th May. Letter received 18th, usual crap about irrecoverable court costs, management time etc.etc.
Still got MCOL going on with 3 other banks and am expecting same outcome.

Thanks Martin and everyone else who has beaten the Robbing B's and good luck to anyone else working the process.Keep believing and stick to your timetable, the banks cannot react quickly enough. I Don't think they have the money to take on enough staff! Hope all this court activity affects their ability to get credit in the future.

Claimed from Cahoot/Abbey £983.62 incl. MCOL fee + interest
    They paid: £983.62

Yipeee!! Took ages. First claimed back in early February. They played hard ball and stuck it out as long as they could. They delayed court hearing to October which I initially viewed as ominous in the light of the recent Lloyds victory, but on reflection they must have been playing for time to settle!

Get every penny back then the banks might have to become honest, fair and open with their customers and not continue to rip people off and encourage debt!

Thanks to Martin and all the wonderful help received on this site. Your assistance and encouragement has been amazing! x:beer: all round!

    Bank: HSBC
    Amount Reclaimed: 1184.50
    Amount they paid: 1084.05
    The story:
Added up fees using internet banking statements online. Sent a polite letter asking for the 1184.50. Got the standard letter saying they'd look into it. After 8 weeks no answer and could not get through on the customer services line so rang the complaints line to ask if there was an alternative number but he looked at the case for me from there and apologised they had not contacted me by the 8 weeks mark and he would chase them up. Offer arrived today - one week later.

Thanks Martin, this is a helpful step to getting me on the financial straight and narrow and makes me feel much more in control and able to do that - its not just abouit getting the money back from the banks (though that is nice:rotfl: )
