Bank: The One Account
Amount enquired about £129
Amount repaid £950 !!!!
Im currently at the second letter stage claiming £5500 from my old bank HSBC. But what I wanted to tell you is that my current bank The One Account (who I went to because I was fed up of the HSBC not been bothered to help). I rang them to ask about 4 charges that had been applied to my account in between them not recieving a fax I sent them that would have cleared funds to cover bills and having to send a second fax. When the bank rang me to find out about my quirey I told them about our current situation( my wife's just qualified as a nurse and is struggling to get a job as none are available!!!), I was gobsmacked when the bank then turned round and told me that they would give back every penny that they had charged me:beer: I know this will be a rarerity but I thought id pass it on that there is hope for banks yet????.
I'll let you know how I get on against the HSBC0 -
BANK : the royal bank of scotland
AMOUNT CLAIMED :£4497
AMOUNT PAID BACK :£4497
I started doing this for my mum . since she had a triple byass numbers just dont stick in her head and she asked me to help her with her finances thats when i noticed in one month alone the bank wiped out her entire pension through charges . so i decided enough was enough i explained what we were going to do and she totally agreed . my mum is not senile just not as money canny as she was but all other faculties fire on full cylinders . so we started mid march with the 1st letter and we got 6yrs of statements . 2nd letter nothing . 3rd letter and we recieved a looking into it letter . we had just sent 4th letter giving them 14 days when we got a letter offering a full amount . mum said yes and is very happy this amount is half her years pension not sure what shes doing with it but shes happy and thats all that matters .
i just wish more elderly would challange the banks but not all have access to internet and sites like this so please spread the word and try to help them .
thanks martin0 -
Hi
I got another success, Capital One, after having to pursue them to the end via MCOL they gave me the amount I asked for £612 that includes the interest plus another £80 to cover court cost. So £692 back in all. It's taken about 3/4 months.
Thanks for the help and go for it if your still debating to do it."I AM THE GATEKEEPER OF MY OWN DESTINY" Nacho Libre

Well I never thought I would be writing this,
My story
I followed the advice of martin and waited the set amount of time.
I filed a claim with mCOL and they had until yesterday, well last night they decided to defend in full...so spent last night worrying
and today I had 2 cheques through amounting to £1249.83 from NATIONWIDE
My account had been closed for 2 years so it just goes to show that it works!!!!
cheers martin   :money: :money:

Did it through FOS as amount was above the limit for Scottish small claims. Sent first letter to bank on 3rd March. Contacted FOS on 3 April. Paid up today.
Only problem is they have made the cheque out to my old business name which I have sold so I can't pay in the cheque. Phone them about it so here's hoping I get a new cheque soon.
Thanks to Martin and the BGs on here
Following yesterday's succes I've just heard from the FOS that Lloyds have settled in full today as well. :j
Again I used the FOS and I'd really recommend them if you're at all worried about court. Thanks again everyone.0 -
Bank: Nat West
Amount Reclaimed: £522 (no interest)
Amount they paid: £522
The story: Sent 1st letter 27th March, no response. Sent 2nd letter 13th April. No response. Rang customer relations 27th April. Was told offer letter would be sent in 3 - 4 weeks for full amount. Sent chasing e-mail 11th May. Received response saying offer was prepared, just awating to be sent. Received offer letter today 17th May for full amount, signed form and it will be paid straight into my account. Many thanks to all the encouraging posts on this site!!!! :T0 -
Bank: HSBC
Amount Claimed: £2284 without interest
Amount offered: £2010 accepted
Sent my first letter 14.03.07, HSBC acknowledged 21.03.07, didnt go down the MCOL route, just waited the 8 weeks, deadline was 16.5.07 and had heard nothing, called them and they told me they were inundated so had to wait a couple more weeks, so I said I was reporting case to the FOS, 2 days later letter with offer thru the door!!!!! I am exteremely happy, wouldve liked the full amount with interest but I'm just being greedy, 2K i thought had gone forever!!!!!
Thanks to Martin and everybody who has offered support on this site.....:money:
