Bank - Beneficial Bank - Credit Cards
Two amounts claimed for £1234.11 and 932.17.

Received today offers for full amount

Basically followed Martins advice with a little bit of fine tuning in the letter dept.

    Firstclaim attempt rejected.
Made phone call where they said they would reconsider. Received offer for partial settlement.

Made second phone call rejecting the offers. They said they would again reconsider.

Today received letters offering full amount.

I started the process on the 10 March and therefore it has been relatively quick and straight forward. The people at Beneficial were very friendly and I guess were merely .testing the water' by rejecting my claims initially.

I have a number of other claims pending which I feel will not go quite as smoothly, in particular Citibank and Woolwich who I am currently taking to court. A number of others have not yet replied to my request for a list of charges and I have reported these to the Information Commission.

The success with Beneficial has restored my confidence in the process and I am now going to exert more pressure on the other Banks.

I have one query which somebody may be able to help me with. The offer letters state that the refunds will be credited to the respective accounts! I really want this money to be paid BY CHEQUE and I am going to make this a condition of my acceptance. Has anybody else tried this and do I have the right to request this?:rotfl:

Requested statements which came within a week

    Sent 1st letter 1st May requesting £408
Received reply 4th May offering £204

They stated that we were allowed to charge £12.00 and so were giving me the difference. All is cost me was a stamp!

Just waiting for Halifax and Studio cards now.

Thank you Martin and everyone else on this site.

  • I Spoke to my bank over the phone to get a list of all my charges for the last six years. It took about a week to come through ( they didn't charge me for them) so highlighted them and totalled them up £1758.

Next day I sent them the standard letter and ten days later I recieved a standard letter back saying they believe they are right and would win in court blah blah, but we will give you £1558 now if you settle, well I sat down with my wife to discuss whether to hold out for the other £200, I think this conversation lasted 3.5 seconds. now the paperwork is signed. All is good.

P.s First time Post, hope it goes in the right place..........
