Bank: HSBC
Amount Reclaimed: just over 300
Amount they paid: the exact amount
The story: Simple , went through our accounts added up the charges, went for a light touch letter rather than the full on letter on this site but did include key phrases such as "do not believe these charges reflect the true cost to HSBC of going into unauthorised overdraft" enclosed a schedule of dates and amounts charged. Waited over 2 months for a response and received a without prejudice letter which said they believed that they could win any legal challenge but time and cost of such a challenge prohibitive so with no admission of liability prepared to pay. Have to wait 14 days for money to go inot our account but I don't mond although I wonder which slow banking service they use!

After three months and a few days before the court deadline, we have just checked our account and HBOS have paid us our full amount of £4118.26.. We always hoped we would get the full amount, but with living up in Scotland we really did not think it was possible to claim back so very much!
Thank you so so much firstly to Martin and to everyone else whom has given us such wonderful advice and support over the past few months...
We both just want to jump for joy, really cannot believe, it has worked for us, and if we can do it ANYONE can xxx :rotfl:HBOS £4118.16 in bank charges
Paid 15th May £4118.16 woohooo:rotfl:
CAPITAL ONE £160.00.. 3rd letter sent
Paid a week later :rotfl:
Many thanks to Martin and everyone whom has helped :T xx0 -
Natwest
Claimed £54
Received £54
Took about 3 months, received letter yesterday offering full amount. should be in my account within 10 working days.
Halifax
Beware my boyfriend settled a claim with Halifax at middle of April for £850 but they only paid £790 into his account (waited over 2 weeks for it to be paid in). He called them and they said it was human error and that he will have to wait another 2 weeks for the other £60! Ridiculous shouldn't take that long to put money in your account, they hold off for aslong as possible!0 -
Claimed £561
Paid £400
1st Letter sent 02/03/07
2nd Letter sent 17/03/07
Offer Received 18/04/07
Cheque Received 14/05/07
I have accepted this amount, because I did'nt really want to go to court as I already have HSBC at court on 17th August, for £3666.68!
So, £400 was'nt bad for writing a letter and waiting a few weeks.
