We began our campaign to reclaim unfair charges on my DH's private account with Lloyds TSB on 29th January this year, and today received an offer of full and final settlement for slightly more than we were asking! They do not appear to be closing the account, either! I just wanted to thank Martin - my hero - and everyone else here who does such fantastic work on our behalf. Without this site I wouldn't have carried on with such dogged determination! You really do encourage us to keep going! Many many thanks!!:j :j

We still await the result of our claim against Lloyds on DH's business account, which was started at the same time, for £2270.28 and hope to hear from them within the next few days with an offer!

Next stop will be our 'wasted costs' claims and I am already working on those!:rotfl: :rotfl:

Once again, thank you so much - couldn't have got this far without you!:j :j   :grouphug:

    Recieved: £238

It took two letters and a couple of phone calls. I sent my first letter on the 5th March and it took 8 weeks for them to make me an offer. I am now just waiting for them to pay me the money.
Thankyou to everyone on this site.

After rather sceptically going through the motions of reclaiming past charges, and by simply using the money master Martins template letters, a beautiful little darling cheque landed on the old doormat today. What a result!! It really is that simple, thank you Mr Lewis. :j

Big Thank You Martin - after watching you again and again on TV - I decided why not give it a go.

And I got some of my charges back..........

    Bank: First Direct
    Amount Reclaimed:£3437.50
    Amount they paid: £1690.00
The story: Followed the advice from Martin, worked out the charges I had recieved from FD over the last six years and copied the template letter. Two days after posting recieved reply saying they would repay £1690 in full and final. I accepted and a week later the money was back in my current account. :j

    Bank: HSBC
    Amount Claimed: £1807.50 (+£334.18 interest)
    Repaid: £1669.50

Send first letter asking for my charges back 07/03/2007. Got the usual "We are looking into it" reply.

Sent a letter threatening court action 26/03/2007 and heard nothing.

Was too busy/away to actually file an MCOL claim but got a letter from HSBC yesterday saying they were willing to give me £1669.50 "in full and final settlement". Going to accept this in wiriting this week.

Interestingly they also stated that I had claimed back beyond 6 years... it is more than 6 years now as I've waited 2 months for a reply!

Anyway, good result that didn't need anything more than a couple of letters from me. :-)

    HALIFAX
    CHARGES £936
    SETTLED FOR £700

Thanks to this web site I rec'd back money I never knew I was entitled to. My total charges amounted to £930.
I follwed the instructions and sent the template letters. The Halifax follwed the predicted path of first "investigating " my claim, then sent letter to say the charges were fair and that I had agreed to them under the terms and conditions originally signed when I started the a/c 25 years ago!!
I replied stating I rejected the terms as unfair and gave them 7 days to pay or face court. I logged onto the moneyclaim web site and prepared the summons and on the 7th day the Halifax wrote offering £430 as "GOODWILL" I telephoned the Halifax and negotiated an immediate £700 repayment in full settlement.
I had opened an account with another bank long before I went after the Halifax just to be safe and will now close the Halifax a/c.
My advice to everybody is to go after the banks and keep going, they will eventually pay up.
    Thanks Martin

    BANK: First Direct
    AMOUNT CLAIMED: 3049
    AMOUNT PAID: 2900

Very happy with offer and FD have been very easy to deal with throughout. I requested the statements online and they were delivered via DHL within 7 days. I then sent letter asking for charges to be repaid - received letter offering 2635 exactly one week later. Sent another e-mail saying not happy with offer but that I would accept 2900 and got another letter on Friday (2 days later) offering said amount.
Signed form goes in the post tomorrow and will just sit tight and wait for the money to go into my account.
Am also pursuing Capital One (only 40 pounds but it all counts) and still waiting for statments from MBNA. Whole process took less than 1 month - how great is that!

My offer has really peeved my husband as he started his claim for less money from Halifax 6 weeks before I started mine and he's only got standard letters saying dealing with your complaint - at least it's giving him a kick up the backside and after receiving my offer on Friday he's finally completed his MCOL which I'd been telling him to do all week!!
Am also still trying to convince friends and family to do this for themselves but am amazed that some are still dithering about this but I think lots of people are still scared of challenging the banks and unless they read websites like this, they don't realise how straightforward it can be.

Thanks to all on the site (especially other success stories which gave me hope that I might get some money too).

    Bank: Bank of Scotland
    Amount Reclaimed: £1850
Amount they paid: Just over £2000
    The story:
Had to file a small claim and a Summary Cause action against the BoS. The court awarded me interest and expenses because the BoS made no attempt to respond to anything I did at court stage. So much so that they forgot about my Small claim. I did receive my Summary Cause cheque for £1800 and then nothing. This was good for me as I was able to send Sheriff Officers into their head office!!:rotfl: :rotfl: A charge for payment was served along with a debt information pack!! Ha ha, that was a great feeling serving a debt pack on the Banks Head office!
The cheque was sent rather swiftly after that to my Sheriff officers for the remaining £300.

So go on if you are out there reading this. GO FOR IT!!! You will win!!
