  • Bank: Prat Fest (Oops Nat West)
    Amount Claimed: £489.17 & £50 MCOL fee
    PAID IN FULL TODAY YIPPEE!

They waited til day 28 of the MCOL claim, then caved like wet candy floss!:T

This repays all my referral fees - I've 2 other claims, going to court on 25th June for unpaid D/D fees of £2400, and have just started another claim for £439, for the charges applied since I started with all this..........yes I know I'm rubbish with money, but they're hardly helping are they!

Anyway, my first victory! I'm on the beer!
  • COOPERATIVE BANK
    amount claimed £504.00
    amount refunded £501.00

    Hi all ,

just to let you all know that the Coop have today refunded my charges with no mention of closing my account . Its taken 7 weeks from initial refund request to actually recieving the refund .
A big thanks to this site and the great members of it for giving me the confidence to ask for a refund of my bank charges . :j
  • LLoyds TSB
    Amount reclaimed £800
    Amount Refunded £750

I am with the Lloyds Tsb. I wrote to them for the maximum £750 plus interest (as i am in Scotland). I got two letters back, one saying they would look into it then another explaining to me how charges work and that they were well within their rights to charge me these amounts (ie a friendly go away). I sent them the third letter as per the method on this site (i skipped the second letter). I hadnt heard anything for a month and so today i filled in the court forms to lodge them at Glasgow Sherrif court tomorrow. I have just checked my bank account and lo and behold there is a 'Goodwill refund' of £750 in today. I couldnt believe it particularly with the first victory for the banks today with the Lloyds TSB case being upheld and secondly the fact i filled in these court papers this afternoon which was total coincidence.

I havent had any correspondence from the bank as yet. i will keep you all posted of that. But i just want to say thanks to everyone on this site and Martin as his money programme thing got me motivated enough to do something about these charges.

    Keep up the good work!
  • Bank: Woolwich (Barclays now)
    Amount Reclaimed: £2200
    Amount they paid: £1710
    The story:
Sent first letter in February, got the standard 'thank you for your complaint' letter with a date for resolving the query at the end of March. Received all the account charges information at the end of March and sent 2nd letter on 4th April, asking for the money to be refunded. We got another 'thank you for your complaint' letter with a date of 19th May to resolve query. Today we received an offer for £1710 - we need it and can't be bothered to wait another month to get another offer from them so we're accepting. The way we see it is that it's £1710 we didn't have before and it will help us clear most of the debt we have... so hurrah!! Good luck everyone and thanks for all the advice from everyone - it's helped!!

    Amount Reclaimed: £472.85 & £146 interest = £618.85
    Amount Received: £560

    The story:

Wrote to the bank in January requesting statements, which arrived within the time frame. Wrote two letters as per Martin's suggestion requesting refund but received no reply. Made claim through small claims court almost 2 weeks ago. Received a telephone call this evening from the bank. Initially offered us £300 but we told them we would only accept £560. Agreed there and then. I have to go into the bank in the morning to sign an agreement in order to get the money. We closed this account 18 months ago. Our current bank is A&L and we have a claim in the court for them too. Still waiting!!

The story: I followed Martin's tips to the T and I got an offer letter 2 days after my court claim was submitted. I accepted the offer as it was only around £397 short.

I have submitted my 2nd claim with my other account with NatWest, just waiting to hear from them.
  • Bank claimed: Nationwide
    Amount reclaimed: £2567.64
    Amount received: £2557.77
    The story:
Thanks to this website I started by requesting my statements on the 10th January 2007, then sent the letters requesting a full refund on 10th and 25th March, the first letter got the standard "no because of our terms and conditions" the second letter got a response saying "we will look in to it but we need more time, allow us 4 weeks to respond". I didn't, on the 16th April I submitted court papers, a week later was told that they would defend, it was another 2 weeks when I got a letter stating that they would pay in full, it also told me that "we reserve the right to close your account if you don't behave in the future" yesterday the money was in my bank. The difference of £9.87 I will not chase them for.
This is a great day!!! Thanks to all.
