    Sent email to Customer.relations@natwest.com 12/04/07

Rang a couple of times inbetween,

1st: no record on their system, ring back in a few weeks,

2nd: I rang back in a week, verbal offer of full amount & got reference number. (Then I sent the email)

3rd: rang again the following week & was quoted 2 weeks before I would recieve it, only 3 days later (30/04/07) I got the letter offering full amount in full & final settlement of this claim blah blah blah. Posted back, signed, dated & sent recorded delivery same day.

Rang today, money in my account......went to the cashpoint & there it was in black & white :j

Thank you so much to EVERYONE who has helped me through this process, I thought I would be the test case that went all the way & got nothing, so all you people out there still claiming or about to claim, don't be disheartened or scared GO FOR IT :T

Most of all, thank you so much Martin, you really don't know how much this means to me & my family, I can pay debts off & treat the kids to something, they haven't had a treat for such a long time, once again thank you :j :T :T :T :T   :T :T :T :T :j

  • Halifax

    Claimed £5266 bank charges + £937.66 interest + £250 court fee
    Amount they paid: £6453.66:beer:

    Sent off the suggested form
Had a 'sorry you are disappointed, etc etc' letter with an offer of approx £2600
Sent back a 'Thanks but no thanks' letter
    Applied to money claims court
Recieved letter from Halifax solicitor acknowledging claim
    Waited 2 weeks
Just had letter saying that they are paying the above amount
    I quote
" ....on a purely commercial basis, it will cost the Halifax money to defend your claim in terms of the legal costs that will be incurred. It is unlikely that Halifax will be able to recover these costs (even if the bank wins) because your claim will probably be allocated to the small claims track, in which costs are not generally awarded....." :D

    So glad I took Martin's advice :A

And they didn't shut down my account!!!
    :j
  • I claimed against the Nationwide for my brother.

I used the step by step guide and included the interest using your very useful interest calculator.

I also completed the small claims form on-line.

Nationwide continued refusing the claim and judgement date was 7.5.07.

They made one last ditch attempt saying that it should be referred to the Financial Omdudsman.

I ignored all their advice and was single minded in bringing it to the small claims court.

On 3.5.07. they refunded over £2,000, which included all the bank charges, interest and court costs.

I would like to thank the website for its clear step by step guide and advice - it is an excellant guide and website.

Claimed £600 + interest and costs from the Nationwide....got them all back yesterday (after they made me wait an age!), but they have now refused to delete the £150 of pending charges they lodged this week.
Another claim will be lodged later next week.

  • Nationwide  - Claimed £1459.04
    Refunded £1454.34

I followed the letters on this site and they ignored them all, then I received 5,yes, 5 letters saying that they don't refund charges etc.etc.

I used moneyclaim online which was really easy, they filed a defence, was due to go for judgement on 8.05.07 and they credited my account in 4 different amounts on 4.05.07. I received a letter from them today explaining what they had refunded and it said as long as I keep to their terms and conditions my account could stay open!

I want to thank everyone that helped me on this site, and for those of you that made me persist with my claim. :T

Getting this money back was really important to me as I'm a single parent with 2 part time jobs and a huge mortgage. I had to ask my Mum to lend me the £120 for the court fees which she very kindly did:A . I now have no overdraft, paid back my Mum and gave the kids a treat. :j

For all those out there who are in any doubt, keep going it's worth it in the end.

I would also like to thank Martin Lewis and his team because without this great site I never would have reclaimed the charges at all! :T

I am not down in the dumps anymore!!:D
