Reclaimed Bank Charges SUCCESS stories

Bank:Llloyds TSB
Amount Reclaimed:£1728.01
Amount they paid:£1836.67 (Inclusive of interest and fees)
The story:
1) Worked charges dating back 5yrs via online statements.
2) Sent letter asking for a full refund of charges giving 14days to reply on the 05/02/07. Received standard fob off letter on the 09/02/07.
3) Sent LBA on the 21/02/07 to no avail. However bizzarely enough I received a letter from Andover yesterday saying they still stand firm and can't do anything. Funny that, 9 weeks later I receive a reply!!
4) Filed through MCOL on the 21/03/07 which was deemed served on the 26/03/07. Lloyds acknowledge on the 03/04/07, then on the 09/04/07 they enetered a defence. Grrrr!!
5) I received the notice of transfer through to my local court, without an allocation questionaire, apparently these have stopped now due to the sheer volume of claims ongoing.
6) Had another letter about a week later to say my court date will be on the 04/06/07 saying the judge is allowing only 5 mins to hear the case and to ensure I send my court bundle to the court & Lloyds 14 days before the date of hearing.
7) I was planing to start my bundle this weekend when a letter arrived in the post this morning from SECHIARI,CLARK & MITCHELL- SOLICITORS.
The letter goes on to read:
We refer to the above matter and confirm that our client will be settling your claim within 5 working days by depositing the sum of £1836.67 (inclusive of interest and fees), into your Bank Account.
You are advised at this stage that by our client meeting your claim on this occasion, this is not treated in any way as an admission of liability. This is merely an attempt to resolve the matter amicably between the parties concerned.
We therefore trust you shall write to ****** County Court to confirm that the claim has been settled once the funds have been received and provide this office with a copy of the letter for our clients records.
What a result, I thought this would go all the way to court and half expected them not to turn up.
Many thanks to Martin Lewis for this great site and giving me the confidence to challenge a huge financial institution. Many thanks to Edinburghlass for keeping us updated and informed.
Missc and all other Lloyds claimants, keep going there is hope. Just stay patient and as the saying goes "a watched pot never boils!!"
Good luck all and thanks to everyone who has helped me win!

Its took about 14 weeks and 4 or 5 letters. £1827 Was the original amount I requested but when they didn't play ball I added on £185.02 interest and £120 court fees, £2132.02 was the new total. They offered half ( £1066 ) ironic the battle of hastings, But they were told no thanks. Just less than 2 weeks before the court date a very pleasant young lad called from the Abbey to neg. a full and final settlement. I decided to let them off the interest and accepted £1950, which they are crediting into my account in the next 7 days. Throughout the duration of it all they sent several letters telling me the charges were lawfull and I had no chance, and even a copy of thier solicitors defence, but it didn't faze me and now im 2 grand in pocket. Stick at it guys.0

Bank: HSBC
Amount Reclaimed: £1340.50 + interest
Amount they paid: £1158.75
We first wrote asking for statements in 1st Feb, then again in middle of feb asking for charges back, at the beginning of March we sent them the letter threatening to take them to court.
We then got a bit distracted looking for a house and didn't start a claim or take it any further - this was the one bit I had left to hubby you see.....;)
And then we had sort of forgotten it, but got the letter yesterday! Will be accepting their offer!

Abbey have settled!!!!!!!!!! - Hooray. Many thanks to Martin and everyone who has helped me through this process, at one point I thought I was never going to get to the end of it, and it's only with the help of this website that I continued.
Bank Abbey
Amount Claimed £5346
Amount settled £5000
It can be done, I don't know how to say thank you enough. I feel a bit disappointed in myself that I didn't hold out for the full amount, but I always said that if they offered £5000 I would take it, so I did. I guess its now time to look at the two credit cards that I have and see if I can get anywhere with those - I'm on a roll!!!!!!!!!0 -

Bank: Barclays
Amount Reclaimed: £2100 (exc interest)
Amount they paid: £1658
I wrote to Barclays claiming the £2100.
They replied within 10 days advising me that they were looking into my claim and confirmed they would reply to me within 5 weeks. I wasn't in any rush and so decided to wait.
4 weeks later they sent me a letter offering me £1658 (obviously without accepting liability).
I have decided to accept their offer and am now waiting for the cash to clear into my current acc.

Sent first letter middle of March, recieved standard Customer Service letter (we will aim to resolve your problem by 15th May blah blah blah)
Sent second letter 14 days after they signed for first letter (the Post Office is still good sometimes) and heard nothing back at all.

Now have to phone court on Tuesday to drop the claim (I'm not gonna quibble over £17 interest)
We are now £368 better off thanks to Martin and this website... £200 to our debt, and £170 to my dear OH to treat himself to whatever he likes (after all, it was his account!)
Thanks again Martin, enjoy ur hols (U deserve a break!)
