    Bank: GE Money
    Amount Reclaimed: £277
Amount Received: £234 (but continuing for interest of £43!)

They sent me this offer of the full amount less the interest after the 1st letter !!! :D
Just as I am posting my reply to say 'please revise & include the interest', a cheque drops on the doormat, so I will wait the 14 days to see if they follow-up with the rest :rotfl:

    NATWEST
    CLAIMED £1000+
    RECEIVED £1000+

i followed what martin said got my statements and then added interest and wrote to the bank ( sent it special delivery so i knew they had got the letter), i told them i'd give them 7 days to reply on the 5th day with nothing in the post i went online and started the ball rolling with the small claims court , i got a reply a few days later stating that would be defending my claim, so they would have up until the 8th may to form their defence, today a letter came through the post offering a full refund of money claimed they state the usual blurb about no grounds for paying back etc... but it is due to it not being economically viable......they are now telling me that i must now agree to accept there published charges from now on or "they may need to consider if they are prepared to continue to provide you with your existing banking facilities"
looking for a new account
  • HSBC - £900
Claimed back £900. I sent a letter claiming back £900 using the template letter. 8 weeks & 2 days later they wrote to me saying even though they believe they would win a court case blah blah blah it would cost them to much in fees so they would refund the full amount. RESULT! I am now in the process of claiming my partners back. Come on Martin.

    Amount Won : £5971.19

    Hi,

It took about 3 months all in all (although thet did include Christmas). They obviously tried to get rid of me by offering £1200 less than the ammount I was claiming. Went to the County Court stage but....what a surprise.....they offered me the money before the court date!! They asked me to sign a confidentiality clause which of course I didn't!!

Any one who is thinking of doing this...stop thinking....do it! Its well worth it....all you have to do is send the letters at the right times and thats it...easy as that.

    Thanks Martin!!

I'm after the credit card companies now!

Just thought I would share my experience with Barclays Bank

    Amount Reclaimed: 2810
    Amount they paid: 2025
The story: from when I first send my letter asking for my money back I recevied a letter back from them saying they will be in contact with me by 14 March. 15 March received a letter saying they will offer me 2025. Admittedly, it is less than I asked for but as I have a 16 month old baby and work part time (also having building work done to the house so you know how manic that can be) I accepted this offer. the money appeared in my account about 2 weeks later.

I will be, however, writing to them again as they have taken more money since my original letter for the bank charges (will I ever learn!?!?!)

    I will also be contacting:-
    Barclaycard
    MBNA
    MBNA (Virgin)
    Sainsbury's
    Mint
    Capital one
Burtons store card - I must stress that the above aren't all mine, some are my other half.

I just want to say thank you to this website for sharing all your experiences because if I hadn't have read all the posts then there is no way in the world would I dare ask for my money back!!!!!

    Alison
