first letter sent 7/03/2007 asking for my charges back ,recieved the normal reply we have 8 weeks so i waited the 14 days then sent we will take you to court recieved another letter saying we have 8 weeks blah blah blah waited the 14 days then went on mcol and started the proceedings but i had made a mistake and had to cancel it but i got my £120 refunded by mcol which was nice of them ,then today i recieved a laughable offer of £696 i got in from work at 6pm got on the phone expected them to be closed but a nice guy called richard answered and asked how much id settle for i said £1300 out of £1396 ,he said well what if i gave you £1396 would you settle so i said yes straight away
will be in my account within 14 days never thought id be posting on this thread ,thanks everyone i will continue to use this wonderful site

I claimed £1751 plus £398 interest from nationwide. Started in jan with usual letters got nowhere, had a couple of letters from them enclosing terms and conditions of account. Started MCOL on 21st march, they acknowledged it, their 28 days was up last friday 21st march, noticed that my account had been credited with £500 on the thursday night, but it was too late to ring them. I received a letter on Friday morning saying they have pleasure in refunding my bank charges of £500 plus £50 costs. I telphoned them and he asked how he could help me, I explained that my claim was for the above amount, he then asked me to hold, said he had to speak to supervisor and then came back and said he was sorry they had a letter in from someone of the same surname the same day and it had got mixed up with mine. I did say to him that I found that a bit worrying mixing up peoples accounts, he laughed and said the full amount would be in my account within 3 days, I aske him for his name and he pt the phone down It was in there by the end of that day. 2265 in total !!!!

STORY : sent two letters got offer of 1922.38 rung them to see if could offer full amount ,had to put in writing what amount would be acceptable, wrote saying obviously full amount requested is acceptable within next 7 days or will start court proceedings.... offer arrived within a week !!!

Threatened to take barclays to court over their charges and also the frudulent additions account, also the poor customer service received from Barclays in Southsea Portsmouth as well as the very poor service from their call centres. Was sueing for £783.00 and settled for £1600.

I dont see this as a victory as such as i consider them to be rats of which my episode with them should never have happened , but thankfully complaints were highlighted recently on BBC and therefore saved me the time and extra hassle of proceeding through the courts.

Now i will be fighting for my friend who had her accounts closed dispite being in credit and good standing and when she complained Barclays customer services at the Comercial Road branch Portsmouth advised it was a mistake however you would be best to go to another bank.

i have just made a successful claim against

first direct
for £5,085

they have offered £4,050 which we have accepted.

i now want to tackle lloyds tsb, but havent banked with them for 6 years even though i have all my previous statements, can i do it.

Send off first letter in Jan 07 and got to the last stage asking them to refund or I will take court action. Received a letter off them last week stating they are looking into my claim.
Should have started court action this Friday 27th, to my suprise was send a offer yesterday offering me £274 half the amount. Called customer services and said that I was not happy with the offer and they said they will refund me the full amount.

I got £1125.00 back off Barclays.
This was a result as i was claiming £1300.

do it i did it cost me £10 to get my statements and they even apologized in the letter i received it took about 7 weeks from start to finish and i have just used it to pay of my holiday !!!! thanks martin keep up the good work
