Sent the reminder letter giving another 14 days to respond , no reply , made a call yesterday and was told a letter will be in the post to me within the next 14 days. Received letter this morning , have yet to sign and return.
Took 8 weeks on Total.

Bank: Barclays
Amount Reclaimed: £996 inc interest
Amount they paid: £870
The story: Wrote to them Feb 17th. Received a letter some 4 weeks later saying they were sorry I felt the need to complain and they would look into my complaint and respond by 24th April.
22nd April, received a letter stating that they were "as a good will gesture" prepared to offer me £870 to compensate fro the £870 in charges.
I accepted... Am more than happy with this..
They have, however cancelled my overdraft without warning!
If only "Smile" were as compliant... still dragging their feet even tho I sent the letters on the same date. (they have already cancelled my d/d's and standing orders!. Overdraft next no doubt!

Bank: First Direct
Amount reclaimed: £1125.70 with interest £1311.70
Amount they paid: £988
After receiving my 6 years worth of statements (First Direct returned £10 cheque) I sent a letter on the 2/04/07. Received a courtesy letter which promised to get back to me in 10 days time. Received a offer letter of £988 on the 19th April and today on the 25th April I received a cheque for £988.
Thank you again Martin.:A I'm now off to do the same with Lloyds TSB.0 -

Bank: Halifax
Amount Reclaimed: £2432.39
Amount they paid: £2432.39
The story: They tried to fob me off saying they were investigating, I stuck to my timescale and they settled in full one week after I issued proceedings.0 -
Bank: Abbey
Amount Reclaimed: £1503
Amount they paid: £1525
The story: I wrote a letter to Abbey to request statements. This was easy and they sent them well within the 40 days specified. I then wrote away with my request for £1503 they agreed to pay £423 without prejudice. I accepted this and then asked for the other £1000 + court fee. I should have claimed over £1000 but the court fee doubles!!!
The bank entered a defence and the case was transferred to my local county court. I was given a court date of 26th June but the bank wrote and settled today.
I was really suprised that they didn't hang it out longer but then they know they will lose.
I am now going to close my bank account and open with A & L. Now I just need to make sure I stay in credit!!!:rotfl:
Good luck all
