About 2 years ago we went over our authorised overdraft limit. A cheque was honoured and the resulting charged were £30 for going over the limit & £20 for the honouring of a cheque whilst over the limit.
After reading the article on how to re-claim charges, we hunted for my old statements (which I keep as i'm a sad) found and highlighted the charges, completed the letter from the site and to my astonishment we got a reply today 04/12/2006 that I was being refunded the full amount.
Another sad fact is that I still won't see a penny as my wife has probably already spent it.

Just had £28 refunded from Halifax!:j . I know compared to some its not a huge amount but it's a start. I'm usually a good Halifax customer of 10 years etc but recently due to money going out faster than it went in, I exceeded my free overdraft. They applied a £30 for "going overdrawn" and a £28 " for writing to you" charge. I immediately phoned them and " as a guesture of good will" they credited one of the costs. I thought I'd got away lightly until I got Martins weekly download. Thought I'd chance my arm, wrote a variation of the sample letter - didn't claim interest as it was only last month and it was a one off - that was dropped in through the letter box on Thursday last, on Saturday got a nice letter from the Branch Manager saying the other charge (£28) was being creditted as well. Hurray :j Long Live Moneysavingexpert.com!!!!0

Bank: HSBC
Amount Claimed: £1900.50 + 8% Interest + £120 Court Fee
Amount Repaid: £2612.20
Well my full and final settlement arrived from DG Solicitors today offering exactly what I asked for! My advice DO NOT accept anything less than what you are claiming....they are paying out in full.
Happy Christmas all and Thanks Martin and Radio 2
Will be making a donation as soon as money appears in the bank.

Could someone tell me please, my bank have charged me £25 for paying an item for me(many times over the years)...sometimes those items are only for a few pounds..
can I claim those back also?..does the item have to be a certain amount to justify the £25 charge..0 -
My Halifax bank charged me £30.00 twice for going overdraft by 1 penny, can I claim for these? I also lost a house sale when I transfered by instant chap £15000 from Natwest to Halifax to put down a deposit, Nat has lost my money for 2days, I spent a whole day running between the 2 banks(nearly had a heart attack) until Nat confessed when halifax highlighted the error! I have a prove letter from the estate agent that day stating the owner has pulled out of the sale, do I have a case?
Can you claim back the late payment charges on your credit cards, the times I've missed is when there was a bank holiday and it arrives the next day! Thanks for the advice:)

Claimed: £2400
Received: £1050
Barclays
Did this on behalf of my Dad. One letter, was all it took to offer him £830. He called and asked for more and received an offer of £1050. Decided with Christmas coming he'd take it.Claiming against Nationwide £2500Others to come!0 -
Yes you can claim on credit cards. As regards the money transfer I would assume you need to put in a complaint to both banks to find out what exactly happened and as to who might compensate you.0
