  • Hi all

    Bank: Natwest
    Amount claimed £3003
    Amount Paid £3003

The story Sent 1st letter on 13th March, heard nothing after the initial 14 days so rang the customer relations dept. to chase it up.

I was told that my claim had been validated and that they were aiming to deal with my claim by the 5th April.

I waited until then and then on the 5th I got an offer letter, with the usual T&C's blah, blah... with a "gesture of goodwill offer of full amount"...

I sent it back recorded delivery on the 10th...and the money fell into my account at close of business yesterday...wooo - hooo!!!

Just wanted to say that I never thought I'd get to post on this thread...I'm so glad that I was inspired by reading all the helpful, informative, and supportive posts from everyone on here and Martin and the moderators do a tremendous job.

    Thank you
  • I really didn't think I would be writing our success story today especially as Nationwide seem to be the worst for paying back charges.

We sent Nationwide a letter on the 22nd february stating we were claiming charges totalling £1463.03 (including interest). Had to send them a reminder letter 2 weeks later and recieved the usual response "Our charges are fair and we'd agreed to them on signing a contract with them for the bank account.....blah...blah...blah!!!!"

So we started a claim with MoneyClaim online, therefore claiming £1583.03 including the solicitor charge. Papers were issued on the 19th March and to our surprise Nationwide acknowledged on the 22nd March (obviously a slower week for them receiving claim papers!!!). Was not looking forward to waiting 28 days but were willing to take it all the way if they decided to defend the case.

However, to our absolute delight we have had 2 payments appear in our account. They are headed as 'corrections' one payment of £999.00 and a second of £238.32. We are so pleased with this despite it not being the full amount as we are going to London for the weekend and it will be so nice to not have tighten the purse strings for this one.

What a result for us and a relief as to be honest I was a little scared of having to go to court.

Just wonder if they'll pay the rest in from the claim at some point, but if they don't we can still bask in our victory.
  • Forgot to say BIG thankyou to everyone who has posted information on this site. The support and guidance has been outstanding and I wouldn't have had the courage to push forward with this issue.
    You are all absolute diamonds.

  • BANK HALIFAX
    AMOUNT RECLAIMED £3500
    AMOUNT PAID £2200

    THE STORY
I SUPPOSE THIS IS REALLY A THANKYOU TO MARTIN LEWIS AND HIS WEBSITE FOR GIVING US THE NECESSARY KNOW HOW INFORMATION ON HOW TO CLAIM OUR BANK CHARGES BACK,YOU WILL PROBABLY NOTICE THERE IS A DEFECIT OF APPROX £1300 OF WHAT WAS CLAIMED AND ACTUALLY PAID, HOWEVER I HAVE KNOW DOUBT IF WE HAD HAVE HELD OUT WE WOULD HAVE BEEN REIMBURSED CLOSE TO THE FULL AMOUNT,IT WOULD HAVE TO BE SAID THAT ALTHOUGH WE WERE NEVER IN ANY REAL DEBT WE DID RUN OUR BANK ACCOUNT LIKE A BIT OF A TRAIN WRECK AND SO THE DEFECIT PROBABLY REFLECTS A MORE REALISTIC TOTAL OVER SIX YEARS,THANKS AGAIN.
