  • Amount claimed: £3445.00
    Amount offered: £2449.00

Requested statements at start of March and received within a week. Sent 1st letter claiming without interest and received standard letter - 8 weeks etc etc - sent 2nd letter after 2 weeks requesting charges refunded within 14 days or court action. further letter received advising reply by 8 wk deadline. Decided to give them a chance.

Tried to ring to chase and after holding for 35 mins was given standard lines which gave no answers - was waste of time.

Got home today and have received offer of £2449 to be my account within 14 days. rang to decline and without even having to ask they offered full amount and included all charges to date.

Thank you to Martin and every one who has used this site - could not have done it without you!

    NatWest claimed 7'600 + interest £8'500
amount offered as settlement - £19'500 - a typo I have no problem with !!!

letters ignored, money claim - responce from cobbetts seeked advise as the responce was so hard to understand (no doubht intended that way) - responded and sent all copy corrispondance to cobbetts and to the court - offer recived for £19.5K accepted - now watching balance with baited breath!!

    Halifax claimed £3.2K
Won by default - no defence put forward

letters again ignored, money claim - Acknowledged - no defence won by default.

I made the mistake with NatWest of claiming over £5k and as such they exploited the fact that I was vunrable to costs after the event my solicitor advised me that I should have split the claim a good tip I recon albeit unlikly that I would have lost what he told me in terms of the likely cost if it did go all the way was enough to keep me awake at night!!!

Good luck to all reading this
  • Hi everyone

    Amount claimed £3633.48
    Amount received £3633.48

We started the action19 Feb, registered with MCOL 15 March, just one standard letter back from Head Office 20 March telling us to go away. Persisted with timescale, bit scary when they acknowledged they were going to defend, but thrilled to find they had paid in half on Monday and rest (interest and court fees) yesterday without a murmur, just 3 days before 28 days deadline.
A thousand thanks to all at this excellent website and good luck to all others claiming. It's the best feeling in the world knowing we've beaten them!
  • Halifax Bank-
I made a claim for £1,544 with interest my actual charges for 6 years came to £1,234. They made an offer of £955 and i rejected that by phone and settled with £1,234 which was all my charges for 6 years without interest as the would go no higher at that point in time. The process just took about a month and a half and never reached the court stage.
I really wanted my interest so I told them that i would have been getting interest on my DLA money back then so i would like my interest repaid. They told me to write to their legal team (at the address given in their offer letter) as a separate complaint and see if can get some of my interest credited back to me. I was told that Halifax may grant this to me if they feel that they have acted outside of the law.

Today i got a letter that Halifax will be paying me my £310 in interest so i will be getting what i put in my claim for which was £1,544 even without going to court. I wrote to them and supplied info that i was on DLA and in two days they got back to me and said that i can have all my interest for the last 6 years. I wasn't even sure if my letter made any sense but it worked lol.

So I claimed £1,544 with interest and got £1,544 without going to court. Fantastic result. The whole process took me about a month and a half as well.
Now i have to help my brother get his money back with his bank.

    Halifax Credit Card
    Amount reclaimed: £410 plus £85.57 interest = £495.57
    Amount I got back: £205
I only sent 1 letter and got all of this back. They said they wouldn't pay interest and would meet me half way with charges. Since OFT have said banks can charge £12 for credit card charges I think offering me Half is in proportion and have accepted this. They initially said they would credit my card which took a phone call to get them to change this to a cheque which is on its way now!

    GE Money
    Amount Reclaimed: £90 plus £20.35 interest = £110.35
    Amount I got back: £90
Wouldn't give interest but got a response to my first letter within a week and got the cheque about a week after that-very quick and easy!

I'm now claiming from two bank accounts with halifax. Just sent my second letter (after receiving standard "8 week rule" reply) so I'm hoping they cough up soon!!!

    Hi Everyone,

    Another successful claim from RBS.

First letter sent 29th Jan 07.
Received statements on 17th Feb 07.
Sent in claim on 19th Feb 07 for £3,728.00 plus interest of £607.17.
Got reply with an offer from RBS on 28th Feb 07 for £3,728.00.
They said by law they do not have to pay the interest.
I decided to accept the claim because it clears my account and then some!!!

    Received £3,728.00 on 14th April 07.

    Bank: Barclays
    Amount Reclaimed:£1751.45
    Amount They Paid: £1751.45

I went through each stage as set out on Martins website. I had to go all the way through claiming online, issuing a bailiffs warrant etc. Bank paid up today in full. The best thing is that about £200 of that money they had already refunded previously. They haven't taken my overdraft out of it which I thought they might have done. Also £175 of money refunded was court costs and bailiff fees.
I will now enjoy this money and have great delight walking past my local branch every day.
