Not quite the £2,157 they nicked off me but its better than a poke in the eye.
This site was a godsend, I sent off my letter within an hour of viewing the site. (HSBC conveniantly show your last 6 yrs of statements if you have set up internet banking):D
Took about 8 weeks to get the offer, but it will come in handy!

  • Halifax.. amount claimed £1545
    amount received £1580

We managed to get more out of them as we ended up with a couple more charges between us sending in the letter to reclaim and final outcome...
1st letter sent in requesting payment on 1st March
received usual 'fob off' 3 days later (4th March)
send off 2nd letter informing court action (4th March)
after lots of calls, received an offer from them last Saturday initially offering us £1364.. rang and had it increased to £1580..
    Success!!
thanks to all who helped on here!..

    Good look to everyone else!

long struggle but after going through the obudsman service they caved in after the obudsman were making a investigation to them but they say they dont beilve charges to be unfair or unlawful.

  • hi, just to let you know that my son claimed back £240 last month and i'm waiting for my £320 that i have claimed. we got a letter back saying that they are investigating and have until 28th april to get back to me, my son said the date they give you is usually the date they credit your account. we are with barclays and i have to say we have had no problems claiming so far but will let you know if any occur with my claim. my freind is with another bank and they have just claimed back over £900! it does seem very easy i have to say!

    Bank: Halifax

    Claimed: 790.00
    Received: 700.00

This was 2nd claim, already claimed 1618.00 on OH account which they paid in full. My claim, sent 1st letter 26/3 giving 7 days, received usual 8 weeks to reply letter back, sent 2nd letter 2/4 giving 14 days. Rang yesterday and was told would received offer in next 3 days, received offer of 542.00 this morning, rang up and settle on 700.00 to be credited to account within 14 days. Not too bothered about difference because probably my fault for going overdrawn.

Anybody know how long usually takes to be put into account.

Thanks to this site, never would have done it without the site. Thanks again

    Amount Reclaimed: £505
    Amount they paid: £400
    The story:
Gave them 7 weeks after 2nd letter, rang twice, absolute waste of time and money, on hold 13 and 6 minutes! but - letter arrived 5 days later offering £265, rang the direct number and spoke to a very nice helpful lady, Sarah Morton, she said she couldn't agree the full amount as apparently I'd been claiming more than (they say) my charges were!? She said she'd double checked and it's only £458, I don't actually agree that but Sarah did offer to send confirmation, I wanted it sorted now so asked what she would offer, she said £350, I asked for £400 and she agreed, no problem whatsoever.
First amount (£265)should be in my account by the 20th as this has "already been processed", remainder will be in within 14 days - I'm happy! :)

  • I forgot to say - I am also eternally greatful to Martin, the members of this site, and for the template letters, without which I know I would not be posting this message!
