            Bank: HSBC
 Amount claimed: £1256
 Amount received (settlement): £1060
Followed all the template letters on this site, however, after I wrote informing them that I would be taking them to court if they did not reply with a satisfactory response, I received a letter telling me that they were still investigating my claim and that they would get back to me, in what amounted to nearly 4 WEEKS!!! I wrote back immediately stating that this WAS NOT A SATISFACTORY RESPONSE as a I had cleared set out in my previous letter, and that this was merely a diversionary tactic by the banks to evade paying me back the amount owed to me (I actually put that in the letter!). I gave them another 7 days or I would start court proceedings. 3 days later...letter offering settlement of £1060, which I was happy with. Overall the whole process took about 6 weeks, 4 letters and 4 1st class stamps...BARGAIN!!!!!
 Thank you M.S.E. You're a LEDGE!0

            Bank: MBNA
 Claimed: £400
 Refunded: £250
Sent £10 cheque off asking for account history, received the account history,
calculated the costs, sent them a letter - all per the website advise.
MBNA immediately sent a refund of the difference between the charges I paid, and the actual cost.
 Happily accepted.
 Bank: Lloyds TSB
 Claimed: £2700
 Refunded: £2700
Lloyds solicitors asked the court for more time on the initial court date application, didn't hear anything for 4 months, court said there was a backlog, phoned the solicitor whereby an assistant said in a very patronising manner 'If the case is valid they will proceed with the application etc etc' told him in no uncertain terms that that unless he could prove the costs, they are unlawful therefore the claim was definitely valid.
Received a phonecall back within days offering the full amount.
 Happily accepted.
 Good luck:j :j :j0

Bank: Black Horse Finance Ltd(car loan)
 Claimed: £275
 Refunded: £275
Defaulted on this loan when I went on a DMP and was charged 'collection activity fees'.
Slightly altered Martins letters and the money was taken off the remaining balance of the loan after letter 3(threatening court action after 14 days).0

            HSBC
 Amount Claimed £503
 Amount received £473
Fantastic, especially since these claims were all made when I was a student and they really took advantage of the fact that I was getting a Grant. I always felt the charges were unfair, I fell like Justice has finally been served!0
