  • Bank: Royal Bank of Scotland

    Amount reclaimed: £1887

    Amount they paid: £1887

The story: Sent first letter and RBS replied after 2 weeks, (had prepared 2nd letter to send when reply received) and to our great joy and surprise they have agreed to repay the whole amount requested without any hassle!! Had to sign a declaration stating we agreed it would be a final offer to our complaint.
Yippee!! Thanks to Martin another victory!! Go for it everybody no matter how small the amount you are reclaiming.

    Bank : Halifax
    amount claimed £936
recieved £1,356 was more than i asked for :T
  • Bank:Alliance & Leicester
Amount claimed: £601 (including court costs)
    Amount Paid: £601
Threatened to take them to court, took out a county court action, they wrote back to say they would pay the full amount but not to take this as an admission of liability.

Within two weeks I'd received another £25 bank charge!!

They've also written and told me they'll be closing my bank account at the end of the month. I'm threatening to take them to the Financial Srvices Ombudsman for a 'punitive and retaliatory response to my complaint about unfair bank charges'. We'll see how I get on with that - I'll let you know. (Best set up another bank account in the meantime though - ha ha!)

Thanks to all on this website who've been a great help. Wouldn't have been brave enough to do it on my own!

Bank of Scotland - Limited Company Bank Account
    Amount Claimed: £13,600
    Amount Paid: £10,500

After two letters using templates from CAG site amended to suit our circumstances, received letter of offer which was not enough. Bearing in mind the risk (this is not a small claims process) and costs involved, negotiated this figure and were happy to accept.

    Bank: NatWest
    Amount Reclaimed: 4838 (Estimated)
    Amount they paid: 4838 (Eventually)
The story: Went through the correct procedures and submitted an estimated claim on Jan 2nd. NatWest did not play ball at all and after several faxes, phonecalls, letters and 12 weeks after the orginal letter, the straw that broke the camels back was "We are sorry sir, there is no record of your claim on the system"!!! I referred the claim to the FOS and wihtin a week I had received an offer of the full amount from NatWest.

I sent a letter to the Halifax on Monday 2nd April asking for £7415.00 in charges over last 6 years and received a letter Saturday 7th April saying they were sorry for charges and happy to credit my account with £4847.00 within the next 14 days.

Completely clears balance of my wedding budget for later this year and so happy to settle at that amount.

Couldnt believe how easy it was!
