  • Bank: Alliance & Leicester
    Amount Reclaimed: £670
    Amount they paid: £670
    The story:
They turned us down on the first two letters, saying it was 'within their charging policy'. Submitted a court claim online (cost £80) which they filed a defence for, then a week later just sent a cheque for the full amount!! :T They ended the letter with 'as it is clear you do not accept the terms and conditions of operation we will shortly contact you to discuss it's future operation' However as they closed the account two years ago for going overdrawn by a very small amount (after 12 years) I don't think this will be an issue!

Thanks Martin for all the info, and everyone for their support on this forum!

  • Success at long last,we had only been with Nat West for 4 months and in that time we were charged £342 mostly over christmas. We were
charged £ 190 on 31st of Dec 06 for direct debits due out on the 2nd Jan 07.
 Due to all the publicity:money: i thought i would have a go at reclaiming.Working out 4 mnths charges was the easy bit. I sent three letters which Nat West ignored and i finally took them to court (a little scary) within a few days Nat West offered the full amount of £342:j well worth the trouble thanks to this sight which helped me :T

    Amount claimed: £450 + £38 interest
    Amount they paid:£450
Story: FD paid my credit card from the FD current account when I was short of money but hadn't realised, so they whacked £30 overdraft charge on and £25 of another fee. I didn't notice initially so this happened a couple of times in a couple of months and the fees naturally stacked up. I sent them the first letter as I had all my bank statements, they wrote back within a couple of days saying we're looking into it. I have just arrived home from a skiing holiday that I spent too much on to a without prejudice letter offering the £450 which i have happily accepted YAY!

This website is fantastic - thanks Martin - Natwest, Cahoot and Ikano card next!! :-)

    Alliance and Leicester
    Amount owed - £628.05
Amount they paid - £708 (I assume this included the £80 for the claim online I paid upfront)
Their last day would have been the 14th April but the cheque came in the post today with a letter saying the same as redheadd999's post (see above). However I went into the bank this morning and asked the supervisor if there would be a problem paying this in and she said no. Cheque now in Alliance and Leicester account. Thanks to Martin and everyone else involved.

    Hi,
I sent off a claim for £2887 to the Woolwich at the beginning of March, received a standard letter in reply so decided to send off letter 2.
Result! Received and offer of £2026 this morning. Have decided to accept.

Thanks Martin, am recommending site to friends and family.

received letter dated 31/03/07 offering full amount being paid into my daughters account is this a record?
This is only a small amount, but the buzz I got from opening the letter was amazing. The other account I have to claim will be for larger ammounts.
This gives me the encouragement I need to claim all the othere accounts, 7 all together. I don't surpose they will run as smoothly but hey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This thread is especially to report your successes taking on the banks to reclaim unfair charges.
