I have just received £1470 from Barclays bank, I asked for £2200 but agreed to the first offer because it came on the same day as a nasty letter from a credit card company and it meant that i didn't have the stress of worrying about paying it. However the day i got the letter of apology and was advised that they were going to refund i got a charge and i have had 3 x charges whilst waiting for the transfer to go ahead so i don't think that they meant sorry. Can I claim these back does anyone know or is the refund a full and final amount????
Just found out that i am eligable to use those childcare vouchers which are mentioned on the home page. These tips are great at this rate i could be a millionaire (ish) by retirement!!!!!!0 -
HSBC have treated me poorly as a customer - Midland were accommodating and helpful. I researched all the charges on the web banking site - a couple of hours' work with my (then) dial-up. I added interest using the calcualtor on this site. In all c.£2200. I had alread sent the first letter when i saw the possibility of new guidance to banks from the OFT and possibly the Banking Ombudsman as I sent the second letter. The next day, an offer of £1600+ was made. Given that the guidance may have changed before i was able to get to Court, I accepted!
Thank you Martin - and thank you HSBC for my hoilday in Roma, the wireless Broadband, the toolkit.........

The Story: Usual replies to letters stating the charges were lawful and in the T&Cs of my account. Issued claim on money claim website and after it had been issued and the 14 day period they had to respond they did nothing so i have just entered a judgement by default!!!
I've requested immediate payment - does any one know when i should expect to get this - whats the usual time scale for being paid and do i need to do anything further to notify Barclays??

Bank: HSBC
Amount claimed: £470
Amount received: £470
I sent the first letter to HSBC on the 19th February and received the bog standard "8 week investigation letter". Left it until literally yesterday when I thought enough was enough and I should get the second letter out thraetening Court proceedings. Last night I came home to a letter from HSBC offering me the entirety of my claim. No liability admitted of course.
Woo Hoo!Proud to be dealing with my debts0 -
Bank : RBS (Virgin One Account)
Amount claimed : £660 + interest
Amount received : £660
Took a few weeks - wrote to them on February 10th, still hadn't heard anything from them by March 23rd (!) so wrote them the 'without prejudice, I'm taking you to court' letter. Got a bog standard reply from them dated March 26th which didn't even make reference to the Feb 10th letter! Rang them on Tuesday of this week (April 3rd) and lo and behold the money is in my account this morning. I thought HSBC paid up quickly but two days is ridiculous. Although it is more like nine weeks I suppose.......
RBS made the front pages of the Manchester Evening News a fortnight ago about their refuding charges so it's definitely worth it with them even though they may seemto be ignoring you.0
