Nationwide
Claimed £350.00
Received £400.00 incl Court fees
Just to say thank so, so much - :money: Martin is The Guru!!
Seems to be a common story with Nationwide, but persistance wins! Ended up filing at MCOL and they said they would defend the claim, but sure enough a week before their time was up the money was bank in my account. Received a letter last week saying that they had refunded my unfair bank charges however going forward, if I wasn't prepared to stay within their terms I should find alternative arrangements. Sent them a letter today to say thanks for giving me back my money and no thanks, don't wish to make alternative arrangements.
Going:money: after HSBC and First Direct now!!0 -

Bank: Nat West
Amount Reclaimed:£1963.82 (~£2460 inc interest)
Amount they paid: £1963.82
The story:
Started to reclaim money for my crap partner. Decided he's not so crap as he'd kept six years statements in a file. Sent 1st letter - no response. Sent 2nd letter - 2 days before I was going to start my online claim they wrote offering the full amount (not including interest), which we've accepted. Hurrah!
(..I know its not the right thread but... I've now just been offered a FULL refund of my MEAF from Bristol & West after 2 letters to them - another £195 in the kitty. Double hurrah!)0 -
Amount reclaimed: £2147
Amount they paid: £2147 + £120 court fee
I was charged £2147 over a year and a half with Alliance & Leicester. Wrote 2 letters, got the standard 'no' dressed up in a lot of words. Filed a claim in the small claims court, got an acknowledgement of the claim and notification that the bank intended to defend it. The day after that I received a cheque for the full amount with a rather amusing letter. They are now closing my account. Their cheque took a full 5 working days to clear mind you and it was paid into my Alliance & Leicester account so they have held onto it for as long as they could!
Many thanks to all the info and advice on this web site

Sent off first letter identical to template supplied on website on 5th March 2007 and on 4th April 2007 we received a letter saying the full amount was being deposited in our account as a "gesture of good will".

Bank: HSBC
Amount Reclaimed:£1775
Amount they paid:£1567
The story: I wrote to HSBC requesting they repay £1775. They wrote back advising they would look into it for me. After 2 weeks I wrote again requesting they respond within 14 days or I would start legal proceedings. I got a response within 3 days offering £1567. I am very happy with the outcome and only took 3 weeks from first writing and the money being paid back into my account.0
