AT LAST I've had a success! I have my own two claims ongoing with Lloyds TSB (don't ask - it's a nightmare which I THINK I'm coming to the end of!), an ATM dispute with Nat West on behalf of my mum and another claim for unfair charges with Nat West for my son and it's that one that has had a result! I only wrote the first letter for him about three weeks ago, claiming £384.00, and today he had a letter offering him £356.00 which he has accepted - it was only a small amount lower than the claim. It's my first success and hopefully the first of three! You sometimes think it's never going to happen, don't you? It's only visiting MSE every day that has made me determined to keep going. Well done to all of you for persisting and to Martin for being - well, just Martin - hero to all! Keep claiming - it's OUR money! Power to the people - US!!KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

Cooperative Bank
Direct Debit £4.25 Unpaid
Charged £19.50
Put me £17.00 in the red
Phoned em up armed with Martins Information. They offered me half, I said "well if you're willing to negotiate I want it all back". They said "no". I said "well if you're willing to go to court then so be it". Someone called me back and still offered me half which I refused again. Anyway, checked bank account today and they've refunded the lot!! Woo ooo.

Story -
Dear Martin
My wife and I undertook to reclaim £3100 in charges from HSBC in Februrary this year.
After asking them for our statements using your 'letter 1', we then went through them all highlighting all the charges and inputting them onto a spreadsheet (it was easier for totalling purposes!). We sent this with a copy of 'letter 2', requesting their return. After 21 days we had had no response and used your 'letter 4' stating that unless they returned them within 14 days we would be taking them to court.
Within a week of sending this letter we received communication offering us a refund of £2600 of our charges, which we have accepted. They stated, however, that they felt they would win in court and that they are returning the charges as a faithful gesture because, financially, it would not benefit them or us! They did not ask us to close our account with them.
Overall we are surprised at the ease in which this has happened, we're sure some have had far worse trouble, but are grateful for the assistance your site offers in beating the global financial domination of the banks, who are unscrupulous when it comes to taking more money from people who obviously do not have it in the first place! Where do they get off charging people who are hundreds of pounds overdrawn, by creating a bigger debt to repay with charges?!
Thank you again for your help and advice. We now aim to go after the credit card companies one by one. :cool:0 -

I Started The Process Of Claiming My Wifes Charges Back In February. I Sent The First Letter Asking Them To Repay Me My Charges, Plus Interest. I Had No Reply Within The 14 Day Time Period. I Then Sent The 2nd Letter Giving Them Yet Another 14 Days To Respond, Otherwise Court Action Would Be Issued. She Still Had Nothing Back After 10 Days, So I Told My Wife To Give Them A Ring. She Did This And Was Told That A Letter Was In The Post, And Should Be With Her In A Couple Of Days. She Asked Them For £1155, Plus Interest. She Recieved A Letter This Morning Offering The Full Amount Of Charges, But No Interest. They Would Not Admit That They Were In The Wrong, But Would Pay It As A Gesture Of Goodwill. (yeah Right). My Advice To Anyone That Has Had Charges Is To Go For It. I Am Dealing With The Abbey To Reclaim My Charges, And They Are Trying To Stall. I Am Starting The Court Process Tomorrow. A Big Thank-you To Martin0
