SUCCESS!!!!!
Well guys
we have done it
i went for the meting with the senior NB manager yesterday and i have to say it was very ammicable!
after some discussion i discovered that i was claiming too much, i had over calculated interest and claimed for items i was not entitled to - they were very understanding.
the newly calculated figure was approx £5000 and after some discussion and bartering we agreed an a repayment of.........£4000.00
what a result. We are over the moon.
all it took was a letter asking for statements, the request for the money to be repaid, we received an acknowledgement saying they were looking into our concerns and next a ophone call asking for a meeting. Money lodged in account today!!!!
I was nervous about this but after some consideration decided to go ahead. But like LTWFB new what my bottom line was before going into the meeting and this is what we got!!!!WHOOPEE No LBA, No Court No Hassle!
They also changed our current account to a fee free one and extended our overdraft facility
What a result!!!!
So to all NB customers out there Go For It!
it is a very straightforward process and you will get a result.
The support from everyone else on this forumn is invaluable - thanks to everyone for there encouragement!
now for the next ones
natwest CC claimed £240 offerd 96 LBA for remainder today
RBS CC claimed £180 refusal letter recived today saying fees are legal - LBA sent
Mint CC as above

Good evening everyone.
I would just like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has helped me on my journey of reclaiming bank charges.
I have just looked at my acount and there was a deposit on there from this morning crediting the whole amount which was placed.
To be honest my claim was strung out longer than other's I have seen on here but it didn't stop me from getting what was mine.
I first started my claim in early September of 2006, and explored every letter and way of getting the bank to pay up. Light was finally seen through the tunnel when the court declared me the winner without an appearance stating that the defendant hadn't sent any evidence or statements backing their defence.
So, this is basically placed here for people that are thinking "should I shouldn't I"and my advice is YES you should, ok, It's maybe a little daunting to start with and there were times when I was slightly worried about a court appearance but that never occured (the court favoured me a few days before the deadline). All i can say is that if I can do it then anyone can and I truly mean that. everyone is so helpful and the documents found on this sight are great" so please don't give up the fight.
Thank you each and everyone of you that helped me.
Total reclaimed
£1305.83.
thank you very much LLoyds, in this case it was a pleasure doing business with you. lovely jubbly.0 -

Bank: FIRST DIRECT
Amount Reclaimed:£1070
Amount they paid:£909
The story:
Went back to uni as a mature student 3 years ago, therefore my financial sitch totally changed. First Direct were not exactly helpful, although I had made major finacial cuts to accomodate this. Even so, still went over my overdraft, and like everyone else received excessive charges. Although I did not get it all back, I am very happy with this result. Just goiing through my old bank statements from Nat West as I write - their next!!0 -

Bank: Abbey
Amount reclaimed: £1,370, plus 8% interest and court fees
Amount they paid: £1,829.23
The story:
I've been helping my brother to reclaim three years worth of bank charges, as I was getting sick of seeing the bank rip him off every month. The charges initially totalled £1,900 but Abbey paid back £530 after our first request. We had to start court proceedings to get the rest back, and ended up paying £220 in court fees. Thankfully, Abbey settled as soon as we submitted the court bundle. This surprised me as I thought they wouldn't pay up until the day before the hearing, like they do with so many other people. I think they settled quickly because we submitted draft directions with the Allocation Questionnaire, some of which were used by the judge, and this moved the deadlines forward (go to the Consumer Action Group website for more info on this).
Be prepared for a fight, but it's definitely worth it in the end! Thanks Martin for helping us get one over the banks!0 -
