            Bank: HSBC
 Amount Reclaimed: £3500 + interest, total £4100
 Amount they paid: £3500
The story: After hearing so many stories about people reclaiming their illegal bank charges, I decided to jump on the bandwagon! I asked for 6 years worth of statements, totalled all the charges, added interest, and after 2 months and about four letters between myself and HSBC, I received an offer today of £3500, which I have accepted.
A massive thank you to Martin and his team at Moneysavingexpert.com, without your invaluable advice I'm sure I would not have got this far.0

            Hi,
 Bank: Royal Bank of Scotland
 Amount claimed: £1,100 + interest of £177.57
 Offer Accepted: £1,100
After reading a couple of newspaper articles and checking out MoneySavingExpert, and knowing that I had been charged at various times since I opened the account, I checked my statements. (I am apparently one of the very rare people who keeps all of my bank statements.)
Once I'd added up the amount of charges I'd paid, I decided it was definitely worth a shot to get MY money back.
I posted the claim letter, with a detailed breakdown of all the charges, on 2nd March. I received a reply on Monday 19th March offering £1,100 and rejecting any wrongdoing. (If that's the case, why were they offering me £1,100?)
I signed and sent back the sheet accepting the offer on Tuesday 20th March.
The money was in my account on Friday 23rd March. Have to say that I was very impressed with the quick turn around for them giving me money. Almost as quick as them taking it away...
I still have an overdraft, and the money has gone to pay off credit cards, so I hope they don't try and close my account, if they do, I'll be back here...
 Ta.
