Amount claimed: £2582
Amount received: £2582
I can't believe it. The Halifax just rolled over and refunded £2582 (my whole charges over the period) without a fight. It only took the first two letters. They then phoned me, offered a settlement of £1600 which I declined, them £2000 - again declined - then the full amount. I know I could have gone for interest but because so many charges were involved, it would have been hard to set out for court. Still, seeing them just roll over without a fight has got to be a sign of things to come.
One interesting thing though, since they've come clean and played the white man, I'm inclined to forgive all past demeanours and stick with them. They've done the right thing by me. Funny things emotions and banks!0 -
I need some advice also please..... Halifax and BOS merged, meaning they have only given me three of the six years statements I requested. The 40 day deadline has now expired and after a phone call to the relevent team dealing with the issuing of statements, I am told they will trace them and send on..am a little peeved as I have waited patiently and am now having to chase them up ... is it worth me going to the complaints commission and will this add strength to my claim?0

hi i've never posted before but can anyone help me! i have sent a letter to my bank (ABBEY) asking for all my charges back over 6 years, amounting to £4670. i received a letter back stating that they were dealing with my complaint. i recently phoned them to see if there was any outcome yet and said they were still dealing with it and may take up to 4 weeks. what really annoyed me was that they said it can take up to 8 weeks and if it wasnt dealt with by then i can go to the financial obudsman. are they allowed to take this long or do i just have to wait?0

This was for a storecard with Kwik Fit.
Bank: GE Money
Amount Reclaimed: Only £63
Amount they paid: £63
The story:
This took 2 letters including the SAR. They responded within the 40 days for that and then replied repaying the full amount on the 14th day. So very pleased. Thanks Martin :T :T :T0 -

Hi,
if your first letter stated they had 14 days to reply then stick to this timescale and send the LBA (letter before action) using templates on main site. if your first letter did not set a timescale I would write recorded delivery and give them 14 days if no satisfactory response then go on and do LBA.
Good luck!0 -

Bank : Halifax
Amount reclaimed: £1517
Amount paid: £1301
They offered initially just £300 but i decided that it wasn't worth the hassle of writing for that amount so i wrote back asking for £1000 as i felt that was a fairer(!) amount. They ignored this letter and i took it to the Moneyclaim site. They then offered £1301 on the day before the case was to be heard. We accepted the amount as i had been a bit cheeky and tried to claim for 8 years worth of charges but unfortunately they noticed!
Really happy we did it - and i keep telling everybody to try it - i don't understand why some people are so reluctant to get back what is essentially theirs.

Bank: Alliance and Leicester
Amount Reclaimed: £461 + £166 interest

Mint
Claimed: £52.00
Received: £40.00
Accepted the £40.00 as the last charge of £12.00 is within the guidelines of OFT so i agree that £40.00 is fair! I am now in credit on my card so happy about that!
Thanks Once again!
Still waiting statements from Barclays and Egg!
Will let you know how successful I am with them!0
