Question Please help...partial offer, unsure of next step.
Hi there,
This is my first post on the forum. I'm hoping someone can give me advice. I wrote to IF claming back £2k charges on my account. They have just replied to offer me 1k and I don't know what to do. Is there a standard letter template to ask after an offer? Or am I best counting myself lucky and accepting this.
I read somewhere that they are allowed to charge £12 per letter. Is this correct? They have charges of £30 per go so accepting half would mean I had paid £15 per go.
So unsure of what to do!
Any advice would be so greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for any help.
Ash

Watch martin on this for his advice on this issue. He mentions people ask him the same question you are asking..
Unless your financial situation/circumstances are very stressful, then maybe it's better to take the money, pay off your debt and buy a beer to celebrate! But otherwise I'd say go for it, and send a letter asking for interest to show you are serious. As martin says it's about negotiation, and a bit of courage and common sense I guess! (I haven't heard about the £12 per letter myself).
The decision is yours. Good luck with the outcome if you go for it.:www:If you've got time, please sign the government petition online that 'ME is Real'HALIFAX Statements request letter sent 30 March. Hi all,
I have been reading Martins article about this, and just want to be clear I have checked my statements for two accounts these both have charges on them which are on the statement as (01Feb07 CHG O/DRAFT EXCESS FEE30.00) i have totaled them up for one of the accounts and the amount was astonishing.
My main question can a claim this type of charge back, their is also a fee for interest which I presume is legal, also I would appreciate anybody who has dealt with Lloydstsb recently and their opinions
Regards
IB
P.S. Loads of respect for Martin

Hi Garrick,
I'm in the process of taking Lloyds to court for £1700 worth of charges. I filed MCOL (Money cliam online) on Wednesday, so I will keep you posted of the outcome.
The charge type you can claim is O/DRAFT EXCESS FEE & UNPAID D/D.
You can NOT claim O/D INTEREST, however you can claim statutory interest at 8% which the court will award if you get that far.
Hope that's useful
Cheers

I have two accounts with RBS and have sent letter requesting £1,223 for my main account. My other account charges come to just under £400 but are charges for my loan repayment being unpaid. I dontwant this claim to affect my other one and im worriedthat if i claim on the second account for £400 they will demand my £10,000 loan repayment. Can anyone who has claimed from two accounts from the same bank please help or edinburgh lass who has helped me before. Us Scots got to stick together.thank you0

Thanks to Taffyfella for this and I'd just like to add something if thats ok. IF one of their charges took you overdrawn in the first place then you can relaim the overdraft interest. If the overdraft was incurred by you though you cant.
Good luck0 -
Hi All,
I wrote to Lloyds TSB a month ago using the template letter on this site to request a list of all charges made on my account in the last 6 years.
They have written back to me enclosing the charges from Jan 1st 2002 and in the letter they say "please find attached a list of charges from September 2001 or the date you opened your account, whichever is sooner. You may now wish to proceed with your claim against these charges but if you feel you need further statements this will take us longer to go into our archived data".
Obviously 6 years ago from when I wrote would be March 2001 so I am effectively missing a years worth of charges which I think could be fairly substantial.
As this was a request under the data protection act and they have effectively failed to uphold that request properly, is there any way I can get the list of charges covering 2001 quickly rather than waiting another 40 days?
Also I'm a bit confused about the interest I can add on to the charges. I'm not expecting them to pay me interest but want to claim for it anyway. Do I charge them interest on every charge over 6 years (using the calculator on here) or do I only charge them interest on any charges that actually put me overdrawn?
By the way - Lloyds also include all standard overdraft interest incurred on the list of charges. I know you are not allowed to charge them for this so it may be they do this in the hope that you will ask for it back and they can stall the process further by writing back to you again to tell you.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers
Dave0
