suz, I would reply to them and if they decide to put some money into your account, let the MCOL people know how much it is and continue claiming for the rest.

;) Thankyou for your response Beate i think thats what i'll do, hopefully fingers crossed they will have to pay up the full amount, it just means us little people sticking to our guns and having the balls!! to go all the way!!! I will keep the site informed how I get on and if that helps other people to then great, good luck to all.. GO FOR IT:D
Thanks again for everyones responses x

    Just a quickie !!
With the banks now charging £12 for unpaid Direct Debits etc., does anyone else think this is a more acceptable amount. I have a feeling the banks will be paying out all over again when consumers find out what the actual cost is. I'm sure it's much lower than £12?

The court allows 5 days for the claim to be served so 23 + 5 = deemed to be served on 28 March. They have 14 days from then to acknowledge (that is to 11 April), if they don't acknowledge you have won and can apply for judgement by default. If they do acknowlege, that gives them another 14 days (to 25 April) to defend, if they don't defend, you have won and can apply for judgement by default. If they decide to defend you will get an Allocation Questionnaire in the post to fill in and send back, and a court date will be set. This still does not mean that the bank will actually come to the court date. They most likely will settle before. Only very few cases have actually gone in front of a judge, and every time (apart from once I believe where the claimant was not properly prepared) the claimant has won and the bank had to pay up.

So there is nothing to be scared about.
Thanks for advice, but i think monument credit card will take this one all the way...i am sure i will need lots more help soon tho..
    thanks to everyone ....
  • Hi there,
This is my first post on the forum. I'm hoping someone can give me advice. I wrote to IF claming back £2k charges on my account. They have just replied to offer me 1k and I don't know what to do. Is there a standard letter template to ask after an offer? Or am I best counting myself lucky and accepting this.

I read somewhere that they are allowed to charge £12 per letter. Is this correct? They have charges of £30 per go so accepting half would mean I had paid £15 per go.

So unsure of what to do!

Any advice would be so greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for any help.

  • Bank: Barclays Bank PLC

    Amount claimed: 1250 pounds
    Amount paid: 900 pounds

Offered 900 pounds after initial claim letter.

Took 30 days to receive offer after standard holding letter citing customer services issues. Did send second letter threaten court action but unlikely bank received this before offer made. Therefore offer was actually received after only sending first letter, albeit delayed response.

Accepted offer, looking at other postings starting to wich went for full amount, though allowing Barclays to keep a quarter seems reasonable!!!?????

    happy days :j ::rotfl:
