Hi Everyone - I was hoping for some advice....
I send my 2nd letter to Lloyds TSB asking for my charges (& interest) back. This is the letter Martin says they need to respond to within 14 working days. They have acknowledged receipt, and have now written back within this correct period saying 'we will carry on with our investigation' into what they refer to as my 'complaint'. They go on to say 'We expect our enquiries to be completed within the next two weeks but we will try to get our response to you sooner if we can."
Are they allowed to do this? I thought that within the 14 days, they either had to say yes or no to repaying my charges...
I don't mind this dragging on (the rewards will be great if I win!) but I just want to make sure that there isn't something I should be doing in response to this letter...
Any advice would be very welcome,
thank you all.0 -

Hi Pinkmoneysaver.
We are in same boat with HSBC, They offered same 75% to me. My second letter was dated 3rd March, and they replied refering to that letter with the offer so i waited till the 14 days from the march 3rd date & filed MCOL, that way gave them all leway required for them to hang themselves.
File your MCOL as soon as the 14 days are up on your second letter unless anybody else on here has better info
Thanks Celicaman and Twinkly - I am going to get the MCOL claim off on Wed, so fingers crossed!0 -

I received a full list of my charges from Halifax and seny the 2nd template letter in asking for these charges to be refunded to me and they had 14 days to reply.
I received my reply which stated:
We are sorry to learn that you are unhappy with the charges debited to your bank account. Please note the complaint handling rules set by our regulator, the Financial Services Authority, gives us 8 weeks to investigate and respond to complaints.
It then goes on to say that they will respond at the earliest opportunity. However, if not thoroughly investigated in the next 4 weeks they'll write to update me.
Is this the correct timescale they are stating or is it just a way to prolong the process.
Its their timescale but not yours. You can wait or carry on regardless0 -

 Having gone back over the last six years, i was amazed to see they owed me £1754. So sent off the first letter to Natwest. Heard nothing???!!!! Sent off second letter and i then had an offer of a goodwill gesture of £1754. I agreed and they paid it direct to my account 2 days later. Was really worried about this whole thing, but this site is just great. :j0

I received exactly the same response, just keep going, in two weeks send the letter saying that it is not a satisfactory response and give another two weeks0
