Im 27 years old and terrified of banks and basically anything to do with money
I followed the steps to reclaim my money back
after the first letter to them I got the no you know the rules your fault blah blah this just made me mad and I got tough
I then sent them THE letter
that I would take them to court, with in 2DAYS I had a reply to say that they would close my account!!
and once this had been done they would send a cheque for 50% of my money back!!
Cant complain at this so I said yes £465 thank you very much:j

BANK: FIRST DIRECT
AMOUNT 523.00
AMOUNT OFFERED AND ACCEPTED 480.00
Found my last 2 years worth of statements on-line,worked out the charges plus intrest, then sent the letter from Martins templet.Today, only 8 days after reqesting the money back i got a letter offering me £480.00 (that's the amount of charges they took before i added intrest)which i'm happy to accept::T .
The whole process from start to success has taken less than a fortnight.
I have a similar claim going on with the Halifax who are employing delaying tatics a little, but i feel confident now after this success of a positive outcome.
Thanks Martin, as i wouldn't dared to have a go without the help of this site

Bank: HSBC
Amount: £4319.61 including interest
Offered: £2916.18
Its as easy as Martin explains it is. Got the statements of the internet banking, sent first letter. Got there reply we are looking into it. Sent second letter threatening court, got there reply saying they would reply by 10th April, was just about to file at Money claim next week, when I got a letter when I got home tonight offering £2900 :T - Look the way I see it, its not all the money but I did not have it in the first place. I am over the moon. I am going on holiday in a few weeks and was worrying about spending money (no longer now).
Thank you MoneysavingExpert I could have not done this all without you. I reccommend it to anyone to have a go and not give up.
Next is claiming from MBNA and my husbands business account. :j0 -

I have just been charged £35 for being not 8 hrs over drawn for £4-99 when its there fault i become over drawn as they took there prev over drawn charge out but then payed it back the next day which in theary made me overdrawn for the £4-99 to come out
I rang them this morning to ask for my money back they said no as they have give me back 4 other payments they took out .
they said that they cannot refund any more as i have had 4 allready so i said if u dont give me back my £35 i will take u to court and claim the £35 they just charged me £35 for the 20 min phone call i just made & £35 for the letter i am going to write to the if they can charge made up prices for sending a letter i can do the same as well ?
do u think i stand a chance ove getting £35 for the phone call i did
as i am getting wftc &ctc if i do take then to my local small claims court i dont have to pay :T so i will let ya know how i get on
No dont do this. Claim the £35 charge they imposed on you by all means but dont try and get made up charges back for yourself. You will be under the same obligation at the court stage to provide details of your costs as they are.0 -
Hi Pinkmoneysaver.
We are in same boat with HSBC, They offered same 75% to me. My second letter was dated 3rd March, and they replied refering to that letter with the offer so i waited till the 14 days from the march 3rd date & filed MCOL, that way gave them all leway required for them to hang themselves.
File your MCOL as soon as the 14 days are up on your second letter unless anybody else on here has better info0
