    Amount Claimed £650 plus costs

    Amount Paid £650 plus costs

Easy, sent court summons and they settled almost by return.

When notified of further charged to be applied, I just wrote and mentioned that it was a premeditated unlawful act.
All further charges have been withdrawn on request

    Citibank

    Amount Claimed £30

    Settled £30

    One letter only

    Intelligent Finance

    Amount Claimed £60 plus costs

    Amount settled £60 plus costs

This was the most difficult only because it took 2 letters to get my record of charges.

Settled on receipt of court summons.

    Well worth the effort

    Well, well, well.

I have 2 accounts with Nationwide, and with one, subsequently closed, I claimed my bank charges and received a cheque for £948.62 (see 'Success stories').

So, I thought, I'll easily be able to ask for the charges on my current, open, account? And wrote a letter stating...

"Thank you for your cheque of 1st November for £948.62.

Although I am aware that this is less than the amount I requested, and despite the fact I cannot reconcile your figures with mine, as a gesture of goodwill, I will accept this lower amount.

However, you may note that I have another account with Nationwide, acc no: XXXXXXXX. I believe unfair charges have also been made on this account, and as per my request for my other account, I request that these are refunded.":A

What do I get back? The standard letter they sent me the first time for my first application that they subsequently lost. Now I have to apply to court again....

    Rubbish!
Just seen your post on the moneysavingexpert website - you mentioned Fotolia website, I found this site the other day, have you had any success yet at selling your photo's. I am just a beginner at photography but I think I am doing OK.

Would be great if I could make some money from my hobby and pay off my debt at the same time.

  • Good Morning Y'all my bank have refunded with almost zero effort from me & just in time for christmas;
    Bank: Halifax
    Amount reclaimed £318.00
    Amount paid: £318.00
Moving house had thrown my ususally organised bank account out of sinc. Argh! before I knew it I was getting infuriating charge letters to my old address, re-direction was delayed, and it amounted to £318.00. I completed the first letter from the templates library on this site - thanku V.much, work paid for the postage and bobs ya uncle, fanny's ur Aunt - they acknowledge my letter and within 3 weeks I have had a full refund!!
    MERRY CHRISTMAS to all!!:j :j
  • Bank: Bank of Scotland
Amount: £88 (£30 each for two transactions and £28 unauthorised overdraft limit)

Got carried away Christmas shopping and got a letter this morning with the above charges. I hadn't realised I'd gone over my overdraft (by £64.18).
Called straightaway and was calm and polite and offered to pay the overdraft in exchange for removing charges. Instantly removed one transaction charge and limit charge total of £58. Asked for the remainder to be removed and was transferred to customer service dept who immediatley removed the charge and offered to extend overdraft until I got to the bank to pay the £64.18 I was overdrawn by.

Thank you for your advice on your site!

Be pleasant! It's a good start. I have worked in customer services before and will always try to help nice customers but if they were rude......well..I can't say what we did!
