Thank you Martin and all the Team.:beer:0 -
On March 5th I sent the first template letter downloaded from this site to NatWest claiming back £900.00 in charges.
Today I received a letter saying that they "Do not agree with the complaint and that the charges are fair and they are not penalties or charges for default". They then go on to say that "My account has been reviewed and as a gesture of goodwill and without admission of liability or error" they are prepared to offer the full claim amount of £900.00.
RESULT!!
The only catch I can see is that I have to sign to say that I will accept "Any charges that properly accrue in the future"

Card Barclaycard
Amount Claimed £92 + interest
Amount Received £92 (didn't get the interest)
Length of time took Posted letter Saturday teatime received reply on the Wednesday same week, stating that the refund will be put onto my account next month. Also states that charges have now been reduced to £12 for late charges instead and suggest I try to avoid getting charged in the first place.
Couldn't believe the speed and obviously not closing my account.
Thumbs up to BarclaycardRainbowLiberty0 -
  BANK: FIRST DIRECT
AMOUNT CLAIMED £1604.50 (AMENDED TO £1549 BY FIRST DIRECT AS I HAD MADE A MISTAKE IN CALCULATION.
RESULT: OFFERED £1317.00 WITHOUT PREJUDICE
I SENT OFF A LETTER ON 12/03/07 CLAIMING THE ABOVE AMOUNT AND ADDED INTEREST AT THE STATUTORY RATE.
TODAY I HAVE RECEIVED A LETTER DATED 20/03/07 OFFERING £1317 AS A FULL AND FINAL SETTLEMENT WITHOUT ADMISSION OF LIABILITY.
NATURALLY I AM EXTREMELY SATISFIED WITH THIS RESULT AS IT IS £1317 THAT I WOULD NEVER HAVE HAD WITHOUT THE HELP OF THIS SITE.
OBVIOUSLY I WOULD HAVE LIKED THE FULL AMOUNT CLAIMED BUT IT'S JUST NOT WORTH THE HASSLE/RISK OF ANY FURTHER ACTION, AND TO BE FAIR THIS OFFER HAS ONLY TAKEN JUST OVER A WEEK.
I RECKON THAT THE £232 THAT THEY HAVE KEPT COVERS THE 23 TIMES X £10 THAT I WENT OVER MY LIMIT , AND SHOULD I PURSUE THIS FURTHER IT PROBABLY COULD BE ARGUED THAT THIS WAS NEARER THE FIGURE THAT A JUDGE MAY CONSIDER TO BE THEIR COSTS.
SO MY ADVICE IS TO DO IT WITHOUT HESITATION...
NOTHING TO LOSE AND I AM STILL STUNNED AT THE SPEED WITH WHICH THEY HAVE SETTLED.:rotfl:  :T0 -
Bank : Co-operative
Amount claimed : £4231.50
Amount paid : £4231.50
I wrote on 14th Feb requesting details of charges over 6 years. Recieved them back on 8th March. Replied with opening letter immediately and got a letter back on 16th March saying it had been passed to customer services. The 14 days was up tomorrow. This morning I got a letter to say that the £4231.50 would be paid straight into my current account "as a gesture of goodwill". Gobsmacked doesn't begin to describe it. I've fought a running battle with the Co-op for years over their intransigence towards charges. For two years they wouldn't even give me a penny overdraft because "I had a CCJ " I honestly expected a much tougher battle but the walls are obviously beginning to crumble. Thanks for all your help0 -
Thanks Martin for this very useful and user friendly process - I managed to claim bank charges from HSBC - I got my letter today!
I claimed £2432.62 and the bank are going to pay £2078.00 - they didn't agree with the interest claimed!
I'm really grateful for the encouragement from this site to claim - so much so that I have recommended it to friends and family.
thank you once again

Bank: first direct
Amount Reclaimed: 2310
Amount they paid: 1875
The story: first letter sent 1 march, offer received today. they deducted charges already refunded and also agreed to refund £110 on top for charges accrued since first letter sent. Not bad for about half an hours work.0 -
Bank HSBC
Amount Claimed £2240
Amount Received £2240
Got to the stage of threatening court action and received a reply two days later offering full amount although accepting no liability etc etc. Surprised just how easy it was and how civil they seemed to be. They treated me like dirt for years and at times made my life a misery. Good to get one up on them and looking forward to my play station 3 ! Give it a whirl youve got nothing to lose. Cheers Martin.:j0
