  • my situation is as follows.. i followed the procedure for reclaiming my bank charges on this site(i am claiming 4300) and i have got to the point of sending the court form, which my bank have now acknowledged, so they now have a further 14 days to put in a defence, what are the chances of them putting in a defence!!!! i am a bit concerned that they will put in a defence and then i will end up going to court, has anyone ever ended up in court yet!!!!!!!!!!! i dont relish the thought of being the first.

If after the 14 days the date being the 4th April, and they dont put in a defence, would they write to me or would the court contact me, basically what would happen on the 4th april!
  • Bank: Alliance & Leicester
    Amount claimed: £75
    Amount they paid: £75

    The story:
They took 3 x £25 for going overdrawn for 2 hours on £50.
I sent it the letter using the template and received the whole lot back in less than a week!

I am currently going through my egg credit card statements and have noticed that on some of the statements they have charged me merchandise interest and on others they have not. Can anybody let me know if I can claim these charges back where they have charged me sometimes up to £40.00 a month.

    Cheers

Can anyone tell me if I've gone the correct way of doing things please?

I printed off the template letter (the one which includes interest) and amended it slightly, here's what I wrote.....

    "Dear Sir or Madam

    Ac No ********

I am writing to request that you repay all the default charges that have been applied to my account.  I do not believe these charges reflect the true cost to NatWest.

The charges total £4084.05, plus as I believe I have been unlawfully deprived of the money I have calculated £856.56 interest at the statutory rate, the amount the court will award.

I therefore ask that you repay me the full amount for charges of £4084.05 by way of cheque.  I have attached a full schedule of the charges and interest with this document.

I look forward for a full response to this letter within 14 days."

Although I sent the letter with interest, I merely asked for a refund of charges, also payment via cheque.....is this ok?????

I hand delivered the letter to my branch (as I did when I requested my statements)......should I have addressed it to the NatWest Borehamwood address?.

Any advice would be appreciated as I'm sitting here paniking incase I've gone wrong at the 1st hurdle.

    Hi Guys,

Need some help i have a claim with HBOS i have 2 accounts with them and applied for statements on the 1st Feb 07. I never recieved one of them but the other i have only recieved 3 years of statements they state this is due to when halifax took over the bank of scotland accounts were archived and they are having trouble getting these. I think they are holding off for the oft decision however i have asked this before but i was advised to send the court letter however i am not sure about how much these are as i am missing 2 years of statements so not sure of what to do. bearing in mind they recieved notification of my statement request on 1st Feb 07 so its well over the 40days however on a more positive note they have started my claim from 16th Feb 07 so according to them they only have until 16th April 07. I am thinking about going to one of they solicitors but they take 25% but maybe be better than all this waiting. any idea's

    Any advice
