Bank: Abbey
Amount Reclaimed: 2387.50 plus court costs of 120.00
Amount they paid:2100.00 plus court costs of 120.00
The story: Sent 1st letter 10.1.07 requesting payment, letter back offering 100.00 which was then credited back to my account. Sent 2nd letter threatening court action, Abbey still said that the 100.00 was all I was getting. Filed MCOL 8.2.07, they filed a defence 1.3.07. They then offered 50% which I rejected. I called them 14.3.07 to say I would accept 2,000.00 plus court costs, they called back 20 mins later confirming acceptance. Cheque in post and banked today.
A tad stressful, but my god it is well worth it !
Thanks Martin and everyone else on this website

Hi there
I have sent my first letter plus £10.00 to abbey, i have received my 14 months of statements and i am waiting for the rest which i believe can take up tp 40 days. I have heard alot about banks closing down account, although i do have a second account with another bank what is worrying me is that i have two loans, a mortgage and house and house contents insurance with the abbey.Do you think they will threaten to close these down or can they close them down.
many thanks

Hi guys. I'm in the process of claiming £1330 from Barclays. I have recieved a letter from them today (Tuesday) stating they are looking into my concerns and will let me have an answer or update as quickly as possible, but no later than 12 April.
The 2 week period given to them in the 1st request-money-letter would end on Friday. Do I accept their letter & wait until the 12th April or are they delaying me? Should I continue with letter #3 on Friday??
Thanks for any advice in advance.0 -

Send the next letter Christheplumber and stick with the timescales that you put in your letter otherwise you would be waiting forever if you waited for them.0

Bank: Alliance & Leicester
Amount Claimed: £1137.47
Got back: £1140.58
The storey:
Sent the templates and got the knock back letters then took them to court.
Got a letter from them saying that I was claiming too far back (by about three months) and that I need to recalculate. I did, and this reduced my claim to -£800 however I received a cheque today for £1140.58 :-P
I,m just about to claim for our joint account. Will be informing friends and workmates of my success so they ca do the same. I urge everyone to reclaim.:beer:0 -

If you have only sent the first letter, you need to send the next letter before commencing court proceedings.
This is because you must be able to demonstrate to the court that you have given your bank plenty of time to resolve your claim before taking it to court.
