  • Unbelievably easy - two letters (one to get 6 years of statements and one to claim) plus 30 minutes on the interest calculator. 14 days after the second letter a response.

    £2,157.63 claim (including interest)
£2,157.63 in full and final settlement

    Thanks Martin

    Hi there

I wrote to the clydesdale bank in jan and and in the beginning of feb was asked for a tenner which I sent. I have still not recieved my statements and I have called them to be told that they are well behind schedule and I won't get them for at least another week. This is well over the 40 days. They have now refunded my tenner however what should I do. Sit and wait or start getting heavy ???

any advice would be great and has anyone any success stories with the clydesdale ?

    Thanks

They are probably snowed under although some banks do delay. A letter stating they have failed in their duty under the Data Protection Act and you will complain to the Information Commissioner if not received in 14 days (or 7, your choice really) might help speed things up a bit.

    good luck :)

    HELP!!!

I wrote to my bank (sent the letter to my branch) and they have replied to me stating that the charges are "fair, reasonable and transparent" and have stated that should I wish to take the matter further then I should write to the Customer Relations Unit providing them with a schedule of dates and charges (which I had originally sent to them!). What do I do now, is this just a delay tactic??

Should I just start again but send the letter/schedule to the Customer Relations Unit?

Thanking - anyone - who can advise me!

You could always proceed with the second letter and attach a list of the charges with that, but now with interest. It isnt your fault they have failed to direct the complaint to the correct department so I would carry on with the process regardless.

    good luck :)

Hiya, I am just about to submit my MCOL form, but what happens if HSBC offer me the full amount (without intrest) in the next few days? Will i lose the £120 i have paid to MCOL?

    Thanks

If you accept the offer then yes. You might as well issue claim for the full amount plus interest and get your fee back. It is your choice but you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

    Good luck :)

EDIT: we posted at the same time lol.

Does anyone have an answer for this point?

A friend of mine has today received a settlement letter from the Halifax for approx £50 less than the amount of charges he is claiming. If he accepts this figure does he just forfeit the amount he paid to MCOL?

    Cheers.
  • When I have all of my statements do I have to go through all of them and find the charges myself. On HSBC statements the charges seem to change names and have loads of different abbreviations. Im not too sure what to claim for and what not to claim for can anyone help

    Thank you

The bank have 28 days to issue a defence from the date they acknowleged the claim.

    good luck :)
