Reclaimed Bank Charges SUCCESS stories

I had been reading all the press reports and information about this site for a number of weeks. I decided to take a chance and write to First Direct regarding overdraft charges. I used the template letter from your site and within 10days had a reply. They offered to refund over £1000 in full and final settlement which I accepted.
I doubt if this would have been so easy if it had not been for your excellent campaign and advice. You have encouraged people who would have otherwise been too intimated by the 'fat cats'.
Many thanks,

I am trying to claim back bank charges for the last 6 years. I have used Martin's template letter and the bank have replied saying that the charges which were applied to my account were not "default" charges. As a result they say we are not entitled to a refund of charges.
Can anybody help and explain what this means
thanks0 -
they often say this, and more recent ones will be cunningly (NOT) disguised as arrangement fees.... type out a couple of the titles of the charges you are claiming just to double check but really I'd get on with the next letterLegalBeagles0

Hi
I'm in the process of claiming bank charges for my boyfriend and myself from Barclays.
I sent the letter asking for the charges plus interest back a week ago and recieved a letter from them saying they are sorry to hear we have a complaint, and that they will respond fully by the 10th April, this is longer than the 14 days I have requested in the letter. What should I do? Hold on till the 10th April or write to them saying that this is not acceptable?

Quote by ELYes people have been successful with these cards and don't be fobbed off with the company saying these charges are now reduced and can't be claimed.
So you agree that any OFT report will make no difference, yet this site states that the banks may change their tactics after the OFT report.
So please explain how the OFT credit card report differs from the OFT bank report.
Also what will be the new tactic the bank will try, I would be most surprised to learn they will have differnt tactics to offset the OFT report considering that most Credit cards are owned by banks.the way forward is the consumer action group .co.uk0
