Got a £310 refund to my Coop card and a £310 cheque for my Coop current account!

It is a bit less than I had hoped for as they refused to pay back the smaller charge amounts (£11 for credit card and £8 for current account) and interest.

Was hoping for at least all the charges, but I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth!!!

Now gonna re-do my interest charges spreadsheet for Lloyds and Cahoot current account (Abbey).

Also sent off letters to Studio cards and Next Directory asking for my statements!!

    I'm on a role :rotfl:

    Hi Lupi

First you need to send the first letter to the bank, to obtain your list of charges incurred over the last six years, telling them you intend to claim it back - also inform them you consider the account to be in dispute.

Also - write to capquest informing them the account is in dispute with Halifax and no further enforcement action should be taken until the dispute is resolved.

they can't do anything to it whilst it's in dispute, it breaches the Banking Code section 13 para 6.

    help pleas advice required
i have just got a repley back from Monument credit card i asked them to refund me £712.00 with interest they have written back saying i have asked for a refund for £618.00 ( thats the total with out interest). They are saying they are now charging £12.00 pounds in occordance with the office of fair trading bla bla.
However we are prepared to review defaualt charges in total of £516.00 but as a gesture of goodwill £280.50 which represents half of each charge.
what shall i do i dont want to accept that offer i would be happy with at the least £516.00 but no less .Can you advise me how to word it please please...
    thanks

Hi - you want to push for the 618.00 before you take court action - you aren't entitled to the interest 8% element anyway until filing the claim. So write back saying thanks but no thanks, if you offer £618 before (date you intend to take court action) you will consider the matter settled.

  • Is this the case even if they have bought the "debt" rather than operating as collectors on behalf of Halifax?

Can I claim for a "Referral Charge"? I have a lot of these on my statements which amounts to a handy amount.
Also, when calculating the amount to claim, say if a charge is £38 do I ask for £26 (the £38 minus a £12 "fair charge" sum) or do I just ask for the £38?

Yes you can claim for a Referral Charge.

You ask for the full charge amount, not the difference between the charge and £12.

    Good luck.....

  • hi there, well i ve sent my letters and paid my court costs but nationwide have told the court that they intend to defend my claim!!! ive asked for £320 in charges plus £14.40 in interest - and obviously the £50 in court costs. I ve been watching martyns video about maybe them getting in touch to negotiate with me about the money, but instead they have sent me a letter saying that they intend to fight and that obviously i cant read terms and conditions and that i should part ways banking with them; this stress is doubled as all my problems have been caused by the csa and i ve gone out of the way continuosly to inform them of my situation. does this mean that i will have to go to court? i have no chance of opening a new bank account either as my ex seemenly destroyed my credit history - can anyone help??? anyone else been in this situation??? i ve been successful with every other company so far tho so i hope that anyone reading this post does not put anyone off claiming! this is the only chew i have with anyone! good luck and i d appreciate any response -

    thank you fiona xxx
  • Already received reclaimed charges for joint account and today have received my single account charges £1281.00:j

They took me all the way to MCOL and then sent the cheque 10 days after they acknowledged.

I have also followed Martin's advice and aquired a Marks & Spencer &More Credit Card and transferred my old credit card balance. My debts are now under control and I could not be in this position without this fantastic website.

    Total Reclaimed £3708.73:money:

It's my birthday tomorrow, so going out with my family and can actually pay for the meal with cash and not worry.
  • Please can anyone let me know if I should ask for overdraft interest charges back also or is it just the other charges?
    Thanks
