Hi Nickmack
Checked Royal mail website
2nd letter to GE received on the 7th at Trent house LS99 2 BD and HSBC got theirs on the 6th.
The wonders of modern Science, dont ya just love it lol
When the OFT ruling comes out in april, how will it effect ongoing claims, Say the ones who are only at first or second letter stage,
Got couple things still to start on and thought if i at least get first letters off that would then be ok, or am i wrong.
Thanks

I wrote to Natwest early February and asked them for my charges back, £950.
I receieved a letter on Thursday saying all the usual rubbish, they are fair charges etc etc and we feel the charges are fair etc etc.
As i turned the page they then went on to say " as a gesture of good will and without admission of liability or error, we are prepared to offer the amount of £959 paid into my account"
Victory on that side. :T
They then went on to say " in future if we are not prepared to accept the charges then natwest will look into if they are prepared to to continue with our account"
So i won me money nack but if i try again they are going to close myaccount. Am i bovvered?0 -

I contacted my bank requesting repayment of over £1500 inclusive of interest. They did not reply inside the timescale given so I called them to ask when they intended to reply. They advised because of the backlog it would be another 3-4 weeks.
I decided at this point I would issue a claim online against them which was duly served early this week. Two days later suprise suprise they sent a letter to me offering a 65%. In the letter they state that unless I contact them within 14 days they will pay this into my account as a gesture of goodwill but without any admission of liability.
As I have already started claim proceedings do I need to respond to this letter and advise I will not accept the offer? Or can I ignore the letter?
The court advised that they have until the 1st of April to defend the claim.
Any advice is welcome
Thank you
As they will be putting the money into your account I would write and refuse the offer and tell the bank you are continuing to court for the full amount of your claim.0 -

3 days to go and HSBC have put a defence in !
I have now received a letter from their solicitors asking for a complete breakdown of charges, date, value, etc etc, so they can investigate the claim.
Do i have to reply and give them the details or can i just ignore this letter and go through the court?
Should they be asking me this direct?
Thanks.0 -
Hello,
Please could you point me in the right direction. I have been looking on this site for weeks and have just registered. I would like to ask some questions about reclaiming bank charges, but could only find "reply to thread" and not "post a new thread" Please could you help me?
Thanks0 -
Can I claim for a "Referral Charge"? I have a lot of these on my statements which amounts to a handy amount.
Also, when calculating the amount to claim, say if a charge is £38 do I ask for £26 (the £38 minus a £12 "fair charge" sum) or do I just ask for the £38?0 -

You can be fairly certain that they will enter a defence on the very last day as they did with me and as I've read with others.
When they enter a defence the link that currently says something like "judgement" will change to "defence" and clicking it will say you can not seek judgement. Clicking it before the time will tell you that their time has not expired. Barclays have a clearer idea of exactly how much time they have than the rest of us mere mortals. My experience was that you can not seek judgement ON the 28th or 14th day as they have until 4pm on that day. My 28th day fell on a Saturday and I found they had until the Monday to enter a defence. I tried to get judgement at 9am on teh first working day after 28days and could not. TRhen later that day I saw they had entered a defence.
My impression is that Barclays are playing the system more than any other Bank0
