Hi
I'm currently awaiting for small claim to be filed against Natwest bank for just over £500 (inc statutory interest). I already have a parachute account which I use for all income, but are concerned about Natwest POSSIBLY closing the account (especially since I have an overdraft on the account - which I cannot afford to pay off in one go). I just wondered if ANYBODY knows of Natwest closing claimants accounts, and indeed whether I would be liable to cough up the balance of the agreed overdraft. IF SO, is there any other help/advice regarding this concern.
Any advice well appreciated, and I will of course mention on this site IF and WHEN I win. Fingers crossed! And RESPECT to Martin and the gang!
Cheers.0 -

Tesco Credit Card
Amount claimed: £100
Amount paid: £100
Already had details of charges from all my statements, so went straight to 14 day letter. Received reply after just over 2 weeks refusing to refund anything. So sent LBA with 7 days to reply. Got further reply again just over 2 weeks later saying that my request for repayment "has been agreed" and £100 had been repaid into my account.

I don't believe NatWest routinely close accounts after a claim, but the possibility still exists with any bank.
If it does happen, they would ask for repayment of your overdraft, but you should have a period in which to pay this back.0 -
Halifax tried to fob me of with the first letter, but after I threaten court action with the second sample letter they offered me all my bank charges back (£56). I decided not to fight for the interest as it was only a small amount. Nice to finally get some money back from the banks.0

BANK: First Direct
AMOUNT CLAIMED: £337
AMOUNT PAID: £275
Wrote on the 27th Feb asking for statements enclosing a £10 cheque. Cheque returned after 2 days saying statements would be sent by courier. Statements arrived after a further 2 days. Claim sent off same day. Letter arrived on Thurs 15th March offering me £275. Total amount claimed included interest. They wouldn't pay the interest or a recall direct debit fee of £37.50 but I had already made up my mind that I would accept £275 and that is what they offered. Signed the agreement form and returned it on the 15th. Just checked my account and the money was transfered in yesterday.
How happy am I. Got to be the easiest £275 I have ever earned. Just got to make sure I do not go over my limit again..0 -
It was about 1/2 the amount estimated, why do you ask?
I had no idea either that you had your full 6 years statements on HSBC Online Banking.
Waiting till Mon/Tues to hear from them then will send letter advising SCC.
Thanks
I can't remember why I asked now
Anyway I'm really pleased both you and adason can get your statements online and your claims will now be accurate.0 -
I have recently told Egg that I considered they were being unreasonable in charging overlimt charges of £16 when the only thing that was putting me overlimit was the overlimit charges - small beer I know but I try VERY hard not to go over limit. Their reaction of course was that the charges were what I agreed to when I opened the account.
THEN THEY INCREASED THE INTEREST RATE ON THE ACCOUNT BY 3% POINTS!
The grounds for increasing the rate were the way that I was using the account.
I am new to this list so if I have posted incorrectly please let me know.
