A look through the success thread while you wait might provide some info for you.

Use your browser on each page to do a 'edit/find text' and type in barclays. I did this to research 4 institutions I intend to reclaim from and while it took a little while it was worth it to copy and paste from to a word doc and to use as continuous reference.
Hope that helps0 -
Thanks dude
I'll look into it0 -
Thanks dude
I'll look into it
You're welcome. Dudette, but hey its the internet so who cares.
Personally I dont see any reason why you cant just write and ask for it without having to resort to some Act or precedent to do so. The problem may be that there is a charge for this.
If you get any information on it that would be very useful to know please post back your findings0 -
I'll send off a letter and post the results here0

I have basically been in the court process now with Natwest cince beginning of Feb I would say. I received an offer letter from Natwest and replied as an acceptance in part payment without prejudice etc.
Anyway I have been logging on to online banking to check if the money has been paid in and also phoning to find out how long it takes since sending my acceptance letter back on 28th Feb.
Today I have just been told that as I am in the court process the money will now not be paid in??!! She said that I should have stopped court proceedings, but I tried to explain that I had not received a response and started proceedings. I only received my offer letter on 28th.
Apparently Natwest now have a 'spreadsheet' that tells them who has taken to court...
My question is I signed and agreed to that settlement, can they now just turn around and now not pay up? Just really annoyed as it has only just been mentioned now just before bills are due to be paid etc

Bank: NatWest
Amount Claimed: £2280.63 (inc Court Charges and interest)
Amount Accepted: £2030
The Story: Made my initial claim for £1860 on Feb 1st 2007, got a rsponse in 3 days saying they would consider the claim and pay as a good will gesture. still no further response despte 2 more letters to them finally entered court summons on 9th MArch 2007. Summons served 14th March 2007, surprise surprise received a letter dated 14th March 2007 today offering to settle for £2030 which I have accepted.
Letter of offer of settlement very threatening in tone, stating they would close my account should I ever attempt to claim any charges from them again....shame I'm moving to Alliance and Liescester next week anyway...so they may enjoy my claim for charges on my credit cards when they receive it0 -

This is frankly a stand-off situation and one of you needs to back down (so to speak) if you wish the money paid immediately. It is their fault they didnt refund the money, you havent done anything wrong, but since it is at court now they must follow that procedure. You can write and offer to withdraw court proceedings providing they refund your court costs (if you were eligible to pay them) as well as the settlement immediately.
Personally I would proceed with court. They offered to pay last time and didnt so at least this way you will have the legal right to that money and not just some vague promise.
Either way you win and good luck0 -
