I have applied to Halifax for my refund of charges of £950 i sent away my statements with letter asking for them back does anyone know when i should recieve an answer back from them, but i have noticed the following day that they recieved my letter they have charged me now for using my account
Give them 14 days from the date of your first letter. They may respond and you can act accordingly to that response. If not proceed to the next stage of reclaiming and send the 2nd letter.
Good luck0 -
I am also with Halifax and am due to send second letter to them tomorrow. Within a week of sending the first letter I received a letter back from them stating that a copy of my statements and letter have been forwarded to the customer relations dept and I should hear from them in due course but up to now Ive heard nothing!!
How much are they charging for using your bank? I havent been charged anything up to now but thats not to say i wont be charged and (for the first time ever) Id like to be prepared!!
Stick to the schedule and send the second letter. Good luck0 -
Bank: Alliance and Leicester
Amount claimed: 482.84
Story: Followed The sample letters, went through moneyclaim online. Got slighty concern when A&L said they would defend, then, a week later, a letter saying that in this case, they would pay up, cheque enclosed!! very happy! thanks Martin!0 -
Hi
I claimed for £1015 and they have offered me £678. They have said they are not willing to review the debit interest incurred on the account. Has anyone else had the same experience? Is it worth trying to claim the interest?0 -
If I pick you up righ you're saying that because they applied (illegal) charges they made you more overdrawn and you incurred more charges. I've always felt my bank was contributing to my indebtedness but it must be some really complex mathematics to sort it out0

Hi All,
Got three claims in 1 with RBS £993
and
2 with HBOS, £169 & £???. Letter recieved with RBS on 8th Feb got a letter offering full amount on the 2nd March but i had recieved another 2 charges while waiting send acceptence stating aslong as the 2 further bank charges were paid back aswell. full £1069 PAID DIRECTLY INTO MY ACCOUNT 4 DAYS LATER ***** HAPPY DAYS *****
HBOS.... They have told me they are due to contact me by the 15th of March but out of the 2 statements i recieved only 3 years in one of them they have advised me that when a claim is made they also ask for a copy of my statements so when they contact me they will give me a note of the 2 years that are missing. This account has been closed as i am £300 overdrawn by wait for it BANK CHARGES and there excuse is they are having problems getting statements from accounts from the Bank Of Scotland that have been closed down.
Any advice or should i wait until the 15th of March has come and gone.
Cheers All you lovely peeps...... :j

Just wanted to share my news with you all and thank this site for its help and guidance. I have been claiming from First Direct. I started the process in mid January 07 and I have just received my confirmation letter. I was claiming 3231.00 and I have been given the whole lot back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There was very little hassle, although they took each part to the last minute - but I don't care.
Thanks again

Might as well, only 4 days to go and they have given you what seems to be a valid reason for delay.0

Bank: First Direct
Amount Claimed £2166.50 plus interest
Amount offered £1784.00
This is my first post so hi everyone! Just wanted to say a massive thank you - this took less than 4 weeks and only one letter. On the 14th day I did send the 2nd letter threatening court action, and said i'd accept £2,000 as full and final settlement, but my letter must have crossed with theirs. Have decided to accept their offer as its money i never dreamt i'd see again and am emigrating soon so can't be doing with the hassle of stringing it out. However if it wasn't for this site I would never have had the guts to try to reclaim my bank charges so Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!0 -
Hi all
I am currently claiming £1,760 from Barclays bank and have wrote off to them asking politely for my money back. They have wrote to me claiming they are looking into it and will take up to four weeks to get back to me.
Now I have heard this is happening now and is this the Banks stalling for time with the new rulling coming out at the end of March?
Has anyone else had this and what happened?
Should I send the court action letter??0
