Reclaimed Bank Charges SUCCESS stories

I have asked questions for help of this forum as I seem to be treated different to every one else in reclaiming bank charges.
Im really dissapointed that no one has been able to advise me on my problem and I have now just received a one penny cheque from the Nationwide.
I dont even know what this cheque is for but I m not going to bother carrying on as I feel when it comes to the crunch I will not get any support off any one.0 -
I applied just 14 days ago for £2700 + £800 interest.
I have today recived an offer of £2700. Should i take it?
The bank won't offer interest as you are only entitled to claim this via the court system.
I have realised that i did not include overdraft interest at £600, plus interest, as natwest did not include this when i asked for my charges.
You can't claim overdraft interest for normal spending.
But i am desperatly in need of cash, and worried that the the office of fair trading will mess things up.
Thing is, i have already sent a pre court letter, as i thought they were ignoring me. Should i wait and see if they offer the rest, or reply accepting? Could my letter in the post, cancel out this offer?
Worried and excited at the same time.
You have in fact been offered the full amount of your claim and should accept it.0 -
hi all
fIrstly i would like to warn you that i am new to all this and i am still in my first stages in claiming bank charges. The bank i am trying to claim from is abbey ( i believe better known as shabby in some of the forums. So far i have recieved 14 months of statements from them and i have been told that it may take up to 6-8 weeks to recieve the information i have requested over the past 6 years. I am at present adding up all the bank charges in the past 14 mths, i am just wondering when calculating do you also include interest charged when overdrawn.

No, please read post 4 in the Reclaim Help Thread as to what you can claim.

Hi i am tempted to agree.
The interest charged was in 2 months (so £300 per month), and was overdraft interest, which i have read is illegal aswell, as it includes interest on the charges, which are supposed to be illegal.
Do you think i should await a response to my pre court letter, or just get the acceptance letter off today.
A payout in 14 days would be excellent, as my other account lloyds tsb, have rejected my claim.0 -
i have received a letter back from my bank about my charges, they are telling me it will take 8 weeks to investigate, has anyone else had this, and what should i do,,sit and wait or proceed to next letter, please help,thanks0

Its not a case of agreeing or not, you have received an offer of the full amount of your claim and as you haven't started court proceedings you must accept it.
As regards claiming the interest charges on your overdraft you would then have to work out what percentage of the interest was due to charges and what was due to your normal spending.0 -

Asked for £403 at start of January (included interest), received offer for £200 two weeks later, took it. Have now transferred banking back to Barclays and am going to tackle First Direct (£1100) who I currently bank with. Thanks Martin!0
