Hi - i have never used anything like this before but great website.
I sent letters to HSBC in Canada Square for my charges back but no reply. So on the 26th Feb i started a claim on MCOL. The claim had started on the 28th Feb and today has been acknowledged and they will have 28 days to reply.
I have just been reading some threads ans it states i should have sent the claim to Leeds.
Im worried now can anyone help?0 -

It is never to late, you can still claim, however with if the OFT rule that charges should be set at, say, £12, they will most likely offer you the difference. i.e. £30 - £12 = £18.
You could settle at that or try and get the remainder from court. See the forum Re: OFT.0 -

today saying that under FSA rules they have 8 weeks to deal with my complaint. I don't want to wait 8 weeks and then get fobbed off again. What should I do? - send another letter demanding a settlement or I'll take court action? - or it that likely to be met with an 8 week reply letter also?0

Hi All!
After getting a 'confidence boost' from Martin's feature/advice on 'Tonight', and hearing of all success stories of 'Joe Publics' taking on the big bad banks, I am so thrilled for all of you who have succeeded in your claims/settlements. I have been with HBOS for a while now, and have to admit, they are the pits. Their service/demeanour and who attitude towards customer service has gone right down the plughole since Halifax took over and I much preferred the bank when it was plain ole Bank of Scotland. Almost two weeks ago, I sent my cheque for £10 along with the request for details of charges over the last 6 years, and I've a sneaky feeling that they will take the full 40 days in replying. As yet, my cheque has not yet been cashed, and the fairly new Manager is like 'Mr HBOS' himself, a real company man, not very nice attitude, falsey falsey, as well as a few members of his staff. It's reassuring to read all your entries and I wish you all the best of luck, and hopefully, I can come in at a later date and let you know that I've been treated 'fairly'. Whilst myself and others sit in a pile of debt, isn't it just glorious to know that most of HBOS staff (approx 17,300 of them!) will be enjoying their bonus payout of approx £7,500 each in the end of this month's salary. To think that all of our charges have helped them to achieve this bonus eh?
Oh well, happy days!
Good luck to all.

Bank: Natwest
Amount Reclaimed: £831.00
Amount they paid: £831.00
Am posting this in appreciation of the advice received from Martin...
I recently received over £800 from my bank after requesting that they refund charges over the previous 6 years.
They obviously did not admit liability but sent out a cheque immediately (I didn’t have to pursue the court option). Although they initially refused to refund in response to my second letter (templates provided on this site), stating that their charges were justified; the third letter triggered an immediate payment - perhaps the mention of a specific court - with a deadline..

Bank: Natwest
Amount claimed:£3089 (with interest)
Amount paid:£2095.
I gave my first letter to the bank in late january this yesr, recieved my statements a week later and went about claiming every chatge with interest. I heard nothing from the bank atall and therefore wrote to them stating i would take the matter to court for the full amount or settle for £2000, i recieved a letter a couple of days later stating that Natwest believed the charges were fair and just, however, as a good will gesture they would pay £2095 into my account. Whole process took just over a month!0 -
Please Help!
I am currently writing the first letter to my bank threatening court proceedings unless they pay back the full amount owed to me. On the template letter from the martin lewis website there is a blank where you issue the name of the court that would rule in your favour. Does anyone know what to insert here, is it the name of my local magistrates court ????
Thanking you all in anticipation!!!!0 -
Either leave it out or put in your local court name, list of which can be found in the Reclaim Help Thread linked to in my signature.0
