Reclaimed Bank Charges SUCCESS stories
Comments
-
On behalf of my friend Jo
Bank: Halifax
Amount Reclaimed: £1150
Amount they paid: £1150
The story: She had all her bank statement for last 6 years so wrote to them on 1st February requesting all the charges back. Her letter was acknowldeged on 5th February. On 26th February letter received from Halifax saying all charges would be repaid in full. 27th February money was transferred into her account in full!!
Best of it is she is taking me out for the night for talking her into claiming the charges back and for sending her the templates from here.

I've gone through all the stages for claiming my money back from HSBC and had gotten to the court claim. Now HSBC have said they will defend the claim and I'm scared!! What's going to happen and should I be worrried?:eek:0

Good luck
Thanks pigsmight - thought that would be the case but nice to have reassurance.:beer:0 -
A few questions for everyone, please!
1. Are many banks actually forcing people to close accounts after a claim, or just using the threat of closure in an attempt to twist arms?
2. If I successfully reclaim charges on a current account with an outstanding overdraft, and they then close the account, I presume they'll want that overdraft repaid? If the charges are less than the overdraft, and I can't pay back the difference, that means I might not be able to 'afford' to claim back the charges?! :-/
3. Anyone tried this on a business account?! Also have one with one of the major high street banks...
4. If this OFT ruling is coming soon, is there now 'time' to begin a full-reclaim process? Maybe they'll just ignore the letter for a few weeks, then say .., etc.
Thanks for any advice...0 -

Just thought I would let you all know, I followed martins instructions regarding reclaiming bank charges, I claimed £966.00 + interest on the 6/2/07, I got as far as threatening to take them to court using the templates provided then lo and behold I got a letter this morning with the usual garbage "our charges are fair etc ", but as an act of goodwill we are willing to pay you £966.00 direct into your account.
I am not getting the interest back, but I can live with that.
So if you are just starting to take action or already involved stick with it as you will win in the end.
last but no means least a big thank you to Martin for his brilliant advice, couldn't of done it without his Guidance.
Good luck everyone:beer:0 -

I need to get my claim done, been leaving it too long now! I don't expect I'll get much but its worth a try. Just a quick question, using the letter templates can I ask for my bank and credit card charges back, or would this need to be done in seperate letters?
Also if I want to know my charges, will the £10 cheque cover both my credit card and bank account, or would I need to send two cheques? My credit card is mastercard and my bank account natwest.
Any advice gratefully received!0
