I had trouble getting stuff from Lloyds, don't worry it does come through they are just slow and try a lot of delaying tactics. With mine after the forty days made a complaint (via email) and told them that if the did not provide my statements I would report them to the information commissioner. As Lloyds still dragged their feet I reported them to the IC. They emailed me back saying that they have had so many of these they were sending letters to each bank in batches, at the end of each month. After about 10 days after the forty I got a list of my charges and did not cash the ten pound cheque. (how helpful)

    Hi

From reading through this forum, I gather that I can claim against charges on store cards as well as credit cards.

However, I had a Warehouse store card and a Debenhams store card and currently have a Topshop store card (only small outstanding balance, I'm trying my best and will cancel it once paid!), all of which I am going to write to to request that they cough up (I kept my statements for each of these accounts). Could anyone tell me the addresses to write to? I have looked through the contact list but neither of these companies appear.

Your help is appreciated - I can post the letters off tomorrow then X

Use the address on your statements or use Google.
  • I wrote to HSBC after being charged £50 for going over our agreed overdaft limit for 3 days by about £100. They have agreed to refund the charges after informing me that the charges were calculated correctly according to their policy, terms and conditions and published tariff. I was also told it is not their policy to normally refund charges once applied. They have also said that no further refunds will be made for any future charges in accordance with their standard tariff.

Are they able to stop me from complaining or requesting future refunds to charges that I feel are unlawful?

Right!!! I sent my first letter 29.01.07, received a reply from Barclays dated 08.02.07 stating they would be 'looking into your concerns and will let you have an answer no later than 02 March'.

Well didn't receive my reply by 02 March so that got my back right up.

Did receive my reply on 03 March saying they are unwilling to refund the charges I incurred due to the details of charges being in their Terms and Conditions when I opened my account!

I am now just sorting out my 'taking you to court' letter.

    Fingers crossed.

Why are barclays the most awkward of all the banks??!!!

Can Someone Please Confirm The Timescale Once The Claim Has Gone Into Court. Do They Have 5 Days For Service Then 14 Days For Bank To Acknowledge? Is This Working Days? Thanks J
Nat West - MCOL March - FatWest defended - hearing date 4 July - 2300 claimed and still having charges put onto account!!

HSBC - sent 14 day - still waiting for reply. MCOL by end of week - claiming 795 - eventually paid out £560.

Halifax - sent for statements Feb - cheque cashed - nothing received - reported to FSA - paid up almost amount claimed before official complaint registered with FSA

I am slightly confused - Barclays Bank have very kindly sent me copies of the last 6 years statements as requested - and returned my cheque for £10 which I thought was very generous - however, on my statements are £20 payments taken from my a/c that say either 'unauthorised o/d' fee and more latterly 'paid referral' - are these both the same thing? They are both for £20, quite a lot less than I was expecting, but about £200's worth of them.
