Bank:Natwest
Amount Reclaimed:£2296.71 charges + 517.72 Int = £2814.43
Amount they paid: £2296.71 charges
The story:
After going through my statements and putting together the bank charges and interest sheet off this site, I sent he first template letter on the 1/02/07 asking for the charges to be refunded plus the interest.
Natwest sent a reply letter on the 22/02/07 explaining that although they did "....not agree with the basis of your complaint.....we believe that the charges we levy are for providing services and that they are not penalties or charges..... we believe that these charges are fair, reasonable and transparent.
However, having reveiwed your case and as a gesture of good will and without admission or liabilty or error........we are prepared to offer £2269.71 paid direct into your account."
Thay have explained that any charges I occur in future will be applied to my account in line with the terms and conditions etc etc and have sent 3 booklets about the agreement of banking with them. If I am unwilling to accept any further charges they will cancel my banking facilities.
May I say a huge Thank you to Martin for his wonderful website, advice and letters, and may I encourage anyone reading this to give it ago, whats the worse that can happen. You have nothing to lose!!!!0 -

My claim was served on the 8th of Febuary and acknowledged by HSBC. There are only a few days left to go and I'm not sure whether I should have had some contact from the court yet. Does the questionnaire come after the 28 days is up? What should I do if the 28 days are up and I've had nothing from the bank?
Hope someone out there can advise me as really not sure what will happen.
Thanks.0 -
The AQ is only sent to you if the bank enter a defence. You need to just wait until the time is up and then take it from there.0

Every little bit of money helps so what should I do - do you think I have a claim to make. Any advice very much appreciated
The amount is not the important thing, you need to know what the charge is for and if it is claimable.0 -
I already have a copy of the banks acknowledgement form on which they have stated their intent to defend the claim.
The status of my claim on MCOL is acknowledged.
If this doesn't change by the 28 days would do I do?
Sorry to be a pain but I'm really unsure.0 -
HBOS
6/2/07 claimed £1528 (6 yrs worth)
2/3/07 offered £1383 (5 yrs worth)
Living in Scotland, that's what I could have claimed in court anyway so will settle on that figure.

My daughter was on a very tight budget in 2003/4, every penny accounted for. Consequently a bank charge of £20 threw the budget into a tailspin, eventually accruing 5 and 6 charges some months! Barclays even phoned her during to 2004 to say she had accrued £1000 in charges - I wouldn't boast about that, Barclays, in view of all the claims they must be getting.
I feel nothing for the Bank, especially as they are crowing about their brilliant profit this year.
She is claiming £3815 + interest of £966.85, total £4781.85, and won't accept a penny less, in view of the stress she went through.0 -
Hi all
Could someone inform me of the LLOYDS TSB forum? I have been informed of another address in which to send letters to and wantto check with other LLOYDS sufferers where they have sent their letters!
Kind regards
