Sorry bumped pc..........lol.........was concerned as to email I recieved from this site concerning that in April the office of fair trading is giving its opinion on amount for bank charges, Martin lewis says he predicts it will be reduced to £12 though banks think higher. My concern was if my bank was to hold off till then before settling this untill then when/if new charges are brought about then the amount will differ.

Many thx for help and replies !!!!

Read the last few posts on the Success Stories, large amounts reclaimed from RBS and all done on the second letter. If you haven't started a claim yet, read Martin's article and the Reclaim Help Thread both linked in my signature and get started!
  • BANK: NATIONWIDE
AMOUNT CLAIMED: £1469 plus £323 interest and £120 court costs
    AMOUNT PAID: £1912

On the 9th of Jan.(07), I sent off my list of charges along with the first letter asking for my money back. On the 9th of Feb. I filed a claim on MCL, which was issued 5 days later. And although the bank did acknowledge it, two payments appeared in my account on the 28th. (curiously on my statement marked as "correction".) Correction? Whats that all about? Is that an admission or what? Anyway, it wasnt the full amount, but the following evening the balance was paid into my account, this one marked "cash credit". So I've been paid in full:rotfl: Couldnt be happier. I'm waiting now for the letter asking me to close the account down. Bothered!? But I couldnt have done it without this site
Good luck to all of you on this journey, it IS scary sometimes, but you WILL get there.

Thanks! but can I just check if its HBOS aka Halifax Bank of Scotland or the Royal Bank of Scotland you are claiming from as you mention both?

No matter but just make sure you use the right address :)

    Regards
    Jon

It really is worth the try, use the first letter template, I did 3 weeks ago and have been offered £1200, maybe it should be more but i am not arguing. But, beware, they have warned me that they will close my account if I persitantly recur these charges ( which they say will still be the same)

Its the Bank of Scotland hen, and I am based in Glasgow. Do I still send letter to the Data Protection Manager (( address in West Yorkshire )) or just to my local bank ????

Thx again for your patience and time hen xx

Yes thats the right address I was just concerned as you mentioned RBS and its RBS who are lately paying out quite easily. You can while away some time reading the HBOS thread here.

As you live in Scotland you should only claim for 5 years rather than 6 but send for 6 years statements anyway and we'll worry about going to court at a later stage should it come to that. Another website to read is the Govan Law Centre which is very helpful for claiming in Scotland.
