alabalafala wrote:hi...can anyone give me some advice.....i've done the writing to the bank asking for my
statements, which i got (along with some of another cutomers, which i returned to them immediately), i then worked
out how much they owe me (nearly £5,000 without interest), i wrote to the bank again asking for this money and
telling them i was prepared to forget the £1,000 interest, they wrote back saying they were investigating my claim
and would be in touch within four weeks, today, the four weeks are up and they sent me another letter saying they
were still investigating, but it will take another four weeks (aaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggghhhhhhhhhhhh) what shoul i do,
wait the four weeks or send them my letter threatening court action?????? please help
Send the next letter stick to your timetable not theirs.....
If you sent the letter off the template this gives them 14 days so you already given them an extra 14 days....0 -
Bank: Halifax
Reclaimed: £1735
Amount Paid: £1735
Brilliant! Thank you Martin. Followed your steps to the letter, and found it really easy! Power to the People!!!!!!0 -
read the reclaiming bank charges article and still confused!
what i wanted to reclaim was not charges that i think are too expensive (which they are and now i know i can i might well do that too) but for charges 6 charges over the past 6 weeks that they did not tell me about at all! i didnt get a letter saying i went over my overdraft limit once, the first i heard about it was the mention of £150's worth of charges on my statement a few days ago...
so the template letter doesn't apply for this, does it?
can i claim back for all charges the way martin describes and also claim back the £150 just coz they didnt tell me they were making the charges at all!

Hi
Anyone that can advise regarding small fees charged for going into an arranged overdraft. These fees were for £5 then £10 each month for years. They did not have to generate letters, it just appeared on my statements. Does this qualify as unlawful charges. Does anyone know, please, please let me if you do.0 -
Bank: Nat West
Amount Reclaimed:£3,770.00
Amount they paid:£3,770.00
The story:
I decided to visit Martins website after seeing him on television. I followed his advice step by step and wrote my third letter on the 13th Fenruary, a few days after issuing the summons I got a two page letter from my bank explaining how their charges were not unfair and that I had agreed to abide by their terms and conditions Etc Etc Etc, the last paragraph started "however, as a gesture of goodwill we are willing to make a payment to your account of £3,779.00 " The money went in today !!!!!
Thank you Martin, it is true what averyone says, do not be put off, the banks know their charges are unlawful, so act now before they find a loophole!!!!0 -

I've seen this raise a couple of times but I'm still a bit unsure - in my letter it says "Please note the complaint handling rules set by our regulator, the Financial Services Authority, gives us 8 weeks to investigate and respond to complaints."
Can I still continue with the MSE timescale or do I have to wait?
I'm thinking that it isn't a "complaint" as such it is a request for return of my money and that I should just continue but I don't want to skupper myself in terms of going to court by taking the wrong action.
Any advice would be appreciated.0 -
Bank: Barclays bank plc
Amount Reclaimed: £130
Amount they paid: £130
The story: I sent an initial letter on 17th feb'07 claiming £130 back. I received a letter on 27th of feb from Barclays offering the full amount as 'a gesture of goodwill'.
However the bank has charged me a further £60 in fines a few days after my orginal letter. Does anybody have any advice on whether i should talk to the bank about these extra charges before i finaly accept their offer? I'd like to see that extra £60!!!!
Thank you very much.0 -
I have just sucessfully claimed £700 from the halifax.
I had no need to close my account just followed you letters and got as far as threatening to take them to court.I had a bit of a wait but asked them for £830 and their first offer was for £700 so i said yes. MY brother asked halifax for £1250 and they gave him £1000 so it can be done
The other side of the coin is i'm asking barclays for £330 and am getting nowhere fast . so maybe so payout better than others.0 -

I sent my first letter and the dead line for HSBC to reply was 28th February. Amazingly last week they did send a letter saying they were looking into it, but not heard anything.
I am just about to send the second letter from the template (Letter 5), but I have a question.
I have a loan with HSBC and back in 2004 I missed 2 payments and really did not realise until they started chasing me to pay it about 2 months ago. Yes nearly 3 years ago and they want me to pay the missing two payments now (and no they will not tag it onto the end of the loan - already asked that). Since them 2 missed payments I have never missed one, and only have 10 months to go (+the 2 missed ones) before I pay it off. Now my question is will this have a effect on me sending this second letter. Could I send them another letter later telling to take the missed payments out of what they owe me - which is just over £4k inc interest. Could they say they will pay off my loan with what they owe me?
I really don’t know what to do, can anyone give me some advise.0
